"He wants you to meet him, tonight,"

Melanie's brows wiggled in confusion. She looked at him like she had misheard him.

"What?"

Evan sighed and nodded.

"Yes, he wants to meet you, tonight and it's his condition for helping me in my mom's treatment,"

Melanie was too shocked and confused at the same time. What kind of condition was that? And why would he want to meet her?

"But why? Why does he want to meet me?" She asked with her furrowed brows.

"I don't know. I called him to ask for his help and he said he would help me but before that you've to meet him,"

Melanie turned angry. The hell was wrong with that person?

"This is irrational, Evan. How could he demand for something like this?" Melanie looked clearly bothered by it.

"This is not right. I'm not going to meet him, especially when I don't even know who he is,"

Evan exhaled sharply at her answer.

"That's why I didn't tell you about it before. I'm not forcing you to do anything, Mel,"

Melanie suspired. She was just thinking about her own self and didn't even think about Evan's helplessness.

"We'll sort this out together, Evan. Aunt Olivia will be al... "

Evan's phone ring halted her words. He took out his phone and Melanie saw fear washed over his face by watching the caller id.

"It's from the hospital," He told her. Melanie became nervous too. He picked up the call.

"Hello!"

Melanie heard him talking until

"What?"

Her breathing hitched by watching and hearing Evan's bowled over self

"No, no. Please, I'll do something. Please start the operation. I'll deposit the amount, please....but...ok...." He hung up the call and Melanie became stunned when Evan fell on the ground and bursted out crying.

"Evan," She immediately crouched down beside him.

"What happened? What did the doctor say?" She sounded petrified.

"Mom's condition has become more critical. They need to start the operation as soon as possible or else... " He teared up more.

Tears filled in her eyes again.

"I told them that I'll deposit the amount but they said they won't start the operation until I don't pay the operation amount but mom's condition is turning more bad,"

Tears flew down from her cheeks, hearing and watching him. Her guilt turned more abrupt that it had happened because of her. If she wouldn't have come to stay at his home then Olivia and Evan would have never argued about it and her condition wouldn't have turned so bad.

"What will I do now, Mel? I... I can't lose her. I can't.. "

A sob broke out from her mouth because she knew the pain and fear of losing a mother because she had felt and endured it twice.

"I.. I can't lose her. I can't lose my mom," He teared up more and hugged Melanie which made her sigh and then she uttered those words.

"I'll go and meet your boss,"

Evan immediately pulled back and looked at her with his shocked eyes.

"What?"

"Yes, I'll meet him right now because we don't have any other option and I can't let anything happen to aunt Olivia, especially when I am the reason behind this condition of hers," She said firmly.
