Today after school, Carrie and I were having some bff time together, so we went to the beach to chill. Sipping cold drinks, Carrie told me about how awesome or handsome Steve is. Plastering a smile on my face, but inside, I was sighing because I knew that Steve would eventually break her heart. Suddenly,Carrie stood up and went to the edge of a tall rock looming over the sea.

"Be careful, Carrie!" I called out to her.

"Don't worry!" She called back.

When a strong wind suddenly whipped through my hair, I should have known that Carrie would fall into the vast sea.

Hearing a sharp, piercing scream, I turned in horror to see that Carrie had been knocked off the rock and was falling into the sea.

Tears blinding me, I called for help as I recklessly dove in after my best friend. Plummeting through the air, I reached Carrie just in time, but as I reached out for her, I saw that she was falling deeper into the sea.

Breathing in deeply, I dove back, and felt something weird happening to my legs. Looking back, I saw a shimmery rose gold mermaid tail replacing my legs. Feeling myself run out of breath, I tried not to gag, but I accidentally opened my mouth, and water flooded in.

Knowing that this was going to be the end of me, I tried my best to try and drag Carrie up. Suddenly, I felt energy coursing through me, and felt like I could breathe in water.

Gaining hope, I swam deeper and speedily reached Carrie. I dragged her up to the beach, and luckily no one saw my mermaid tail.

That was when it hit me. I had been too distracted on saving my bestie, and I hadn't realized that I had turned into a mermaid!

But, as I tried to stand up, the mermaid tail changed back into my human legs. Sighing with relief, I tried to make Carrie gain consciousness.

Just in time, a blond lifeguard saw us, and ran over.

"What happened?" The female lifeguard asked. Telling her everything, only leaving out the part about me turning into a mermaid, Carrie's eyes started to open slowly.

"Oh my god! Carrie, are you okay?" I asked worriedly, peering down at her.
