Chapter 26

May 4th, Ash did not expect to walk out of school to see Olly with Sarah.
" What's going on?" Ash asked, they had just finished an at home rugby match.
" Your mother went into labour." Sarah told her and Charlie.
" What?" Ash questioned her. To be honest she had forgotten about her mother being pregnant. Well she knew but didn't really pay attention. She knew in time she would end up parenting it and there was not need to get excited to early.
" Look, she went into labour about 4 hours ago and until then I am looking after you four. Tori is at her friends house so if you don't mind can we get back because Ash, Nick, the pair of you need a shower."
The three got in the car with Sarah and Olly. They were squished into the back since Olly was sat in the front. Charlie luckily was in the middle. Not for him but for Ash. They got back to Nick's and changed after showering. Nick, Charlie and Olly were all playing with each other whilst Sarah sat next to Ash.
" So Ashley, how was your date?" Sarah asked her gaining the attention of the other 3.
" Date? You went on a date?"
" I- no, yes I was but I didn't.."
" Why not? You were excited." Sarah asked.
" I was busy so we had to reschedule. Look, it's nothing, we were only going to get a drink together at the cafe, I am not missing out on much."
" When were you supposed to go?"
" Sunday."
" You went to Harry's on Sunday, but that plan was made on Saturday."
" Look, I just needed to talk to someone. Is that a problem?"
" No it isn't, sorry for prying love." Sarah smiled.
" Who was it?" Olly asked looking hopeful.
" Just a girl from the Academy, No one special really."
" I still think you and Harry would be good!" Olly commented.
" Olly!" Ash retorted, " Harry and I are friends ok. Nothing more."
" But-"
" Leave your sister alone Olly."
" ..Fine..."
Ash stood up and went to the loo, when Harry messaged her.

Ash looked at the heart, he had sent them before but they were friends, precisely platonic pals.
" Ashley! Hurry up we have to go!" Sarah called up the stairs.

Sorry Harry, gtg Mum's had the baby.

Ash switched her phone off and left the bathroom, she went downstairs and got in the car with the others, this time she was in the front as Sarah knew something was up with her maybe she could get her to talk.

The drive was quiet from Ash, Olly was explaining to Nick about the best type of tractor. The drive reminded her of the times they went to see Charlie, getting to the hospital wasn't any better. Her stomach twisted in ways she didn't know it could. The amount of times she had been here for Charlie, what happened to her, to Ben. Hospitals were not a happy place, they never would be.

They entered and Sarah asked for the room number whilst the others sat down.
" Ash you ok?" Nick asked, holding Charlie's hand.
" I'm fine." That was a lie, all tell tale signs were out. Her leg bobbing up and down, picking at her skin.

Tori joined them a little later when the doctor came out and said they could go see them. They entered the room to see their mother and father both holding a bundle.
" Twins?!?" Charlie questioned. Ash went wide-eyed. They hadn't said anything about twins. Where both her and Charlie going to be replaced? She knew that she wasn't ok in the head but- no, she couldn't think like that. No one was going to be replaced.
" Boys." Julio replied to Charlie.
" Have you named them?!?" Olly asked. The only one curious. Ash stayed back from it next to Sarah, even Nick was closer than her. She felt the room closing in, she didn't know why.
" Yes, Oscar and Noah."
Ash looked towards the door," I'll be back in a minute. Need the loo." She said before leaving quickly. She was wandering down the corridor trying to find the toilets, she couldn't breathe.
" Ash? What's wrong?"
" Harry?!? What are you doing here??"
" Ben has a session- no matter, what's wrong?"
" I- I cant-"
" Ok, Ash. Look at me. You are ok. In and out. Copy me." He said getting her to copy him.
A doctor walked past, the same one who helped Ben a few months prior.
" Is she ok?"
" Oh uh yeah. This is normal."
" Do what to bring her into this room, it's empty."
" Yeah, thanks." Harry said, the doctor took them in and Harry helped Ash to a chair. It took a little while but Ash finally calmed down.
" Ash?"
" I am so sorry Harry."
" Ash it is ok! I promise you! But, what happened?"
"....twins.."
" What?"
" My mum, she had twins."
" Ah..."
" Everything ok?"
" Oh uh yes, sorry."
" It's ok. Have you spoke to anyone about this? The panic attacks?"
" Yeah. I have. Sorry. I have to go."
" Ok hun." The doctor said allowing the pair to leave the room.
" I, I need to get back."
" I'll come with, Ben still has 20 minutes left."
" Are you sure?"
" Yeah."
The pair walked back to the room, they entered to see Charlie sat with one of them, Nick stood next to him.
" You ok Ashley?" Julio asked.
" Yes, sorry I got lost, Harry found me and helped me back."
" Thank you Harry."
" No problem Mrs Spring, congratulations by the way."
" Thank you dear." Jane smiled and gestured for the pair to come over to her. She handed the baby she was holding to Ash, still smiling," This is Noah."
Ash sat on one of the chairs, Harry next to her. She looked at the little life in her hands, she felt bad, she knew they wouldn't get the life they deserved. 
" He looks like you." Harry stated.
" Really?"
" You have the same nose."
Ash smiled, not all bad had come from this.
