The best question anyone can ask me is "how's it feel to be second best?" Well, let me tell you. It fucking sucks. I come from a family of three. I have a little sister named Annie and an identical twin named Marcus. Anyways. My name is Hunter and let's get one thing straight. I'm not anything like my brother. He's an athlete, the star baseball player I might add. He's got okay-ish grades, the hottest girls falling over him, mom and dad's attention, a teacher's pet and he's straight. Now here's me. I have straight A's, I can't catch a ball to save my life, my parents are always comparing me to him, my only friend is my sister and cat, no one knows I exist and if they do, it's cause they think I'm my brother. Here's the biggest issue. I'm gay. Shocker right? The biggest issue is that my crush is my brother's best friend, Rylie. The biggest player in the school. I know he's gay, but for my brother. So why does it hurt so much when I look just like him? Well, he's one of the only people who can tell us apart. That is until he kissed me.

~one week ago~

"Hurry up hunter! you're going to make me late!" Marcus yelled from the front door as I shove the rest of my muffin into my mouth and sprinted to the door.

"Geez, dude what were you doing? even Annie beat you out to the car," I roll my eyes and walk past him and out to the car. After we get to school Marcus and I walk up to his friends like normal and when I finally look up from my feet, Rylie is staring right at me. (let's get another thing straight. Rylie has very dirty blond wavy hair, brown eyes with almost golden streaks running from his pupils, about four inches taller than me, and a gorgeous smile. Just my type.) I swear I can feel my cheeks heat up but I'm quickly brought out of it when he puts his arm around my brother. God, I wish I could compete with him but here I am, second best yet again. what's so different about us? we have the same face. I can act like him for a day if it gets his attention. But then again he knows the difference between us somehow. I sigh to myself and walk to class. One of the few classes I have with Rylie but he never sits near me.

I walk to my seat and sit down. As I set my head on the table, the chair next to me is moved and someone takes a seat.

"Did you do the homework?" someone asks. As I look up, I see none other than Rylie.

"Um, yes? why?" I ask while sitting up a little more in my chair.

"Could I use it? I just need it for one problem," he smiles while leaning on his hand. I nod my head and hand him my notebook.

"You know, I could just help you with the homework instead of you taking my answers," I ask while watching him flip through the pages till he finds the assignment.

"I'd rather not ask your brother about the homework when you're right here," he smiles again before copying down the answers. I swear he could use me for answers and ignore me any day as long as I could see him smile. Just then, the bell rang but he didn't leave his spot next to me.

After class, I went to my locker to grab my science book when all of a sudden I could sense someone on the other side of me. When I closed my locker, there Rylie was again. Why was he still by me? My brother is right across the hall.

"Can I help you?" I ask and he just gives me a soft smile.

"Could you be my tutor? I know it's sudden but I sort of feel bad for stealing the answers from you when I can just ask you for help since you understand what's going on," he smiled and I swear this man makes my heart beat a mile a minute. Even though he just said the same thing I did earlier. I couldn't even manage to get words out so I just nodded my head. I can't believe he wants to spend time with me.

"Great, I'll pick you up after school and take you to my house," he said while stepping a little closer. I nod my head again and he walks away with a smile. God, I hope I'm not dreaming and if I am, no one wake me up please, and thank you. After my next class, I had gym then lunch. For once I couldn't wait for gym since Rylie's in my class. Maybe we could be partners? As I walk into the locker room, I can hear him laughing with my brother. I make my way to my locker and open it when someone throws their arm on my shoulder and leans on me. I turn my head to see Rylie's gorgeous smile that's also when I notice he's not wearing a shirt and his six-pack abs are showing proudly. My cheeks instantly start to burn and I quickly turn back to my locker.

"So what are we gonna study tonight? Anatomy? Science? English?" he purrs out.

"W-whatever you want haha," I stutter out while my ears feel like they are going to burn off at any second.

"Let him breathe dude, you're making him red, you probably smell so he's holding his breath," Marcus announces while changing into his gym clothes. Rylie removes his arm from my shoulder and chuckles while sliding his shirt on.

After a few more minutes, we all made it to the gym and the girls instantly started to swarm my brother and Rylie, shoving me out of the way. God if only I could just stand by them without being scoffed at.

"Alright kids line up, we're going to be playing football. Make a group of three and toss the ball around," the teacher blows his whistle and I try to sneak away but someone grabs the back of my shirt and pulls me against them and I hit something hard.

"Can we take your brother with us Marcus?" I look up to see Rylie looking at my brother while keeping a firm grip on me. Marcus just shrugs in response and tossed him a ball which he catches with ease. This is not a good idea. Did I mention I can't catch a ball for crap?

(AN: how will the tutor session go later? What about the rest of the gym? Will he survive? 😂)
