"Anyways," I say while pulling Nick away from Rylie and closer to me.
"We need to get to class," as I lead Nick to class, I can feel Rylie's eyes burning a hole into the back of my head. I make my way to the back of the class like normal and sit down. Nick pulls a chair up on my right and I set up my things for class. Till there's a presence on my right. I look over and see Rylie. He smiles at me and I quickly turn my head back to my notebook. A chuckle escaped Rylie's lips while he scoots his chair closer. I forgot we have class together.
"Do you need to sit that close to him?" Nick asks and I turn my head slightly to look at him.
"Do you need to poke your nose into our business?" Rylie snaps back at him and pulls my chair closer to his and our legs are stuck rubbing against each other. Nick pulls my chair back to where it was.
"I can if I want to," Nick answers while rolling his eyes. Why is Nick acting like this? He doesn't really know me.
"Well, why don't you ask Marc- I mean Hunter if he likes it? I'm sorry Hunter, I didn't mean to call you Marcus," so that's why he's hanging out with me. He's imagining I'm my brother. Oh well.
"It's fine, and I don't mind, can we just focus on the lecture?" I turn my attention to my notebooks and wait for the teacher to start the lesson.
For the entire class, Rylie and Nick were glaring at each other, over my shoulder. It got annoying. Once lunch rolled around, I expected Nick to go to other people but he didn't, he stayed right by my side. Which was kind of awkward since I'm used to eating alone even though I'm not hungry.
"Aren't you going to eat?" he asks while looking up from his tray.
"Oh, right, sorry," I grab my fork and poke at the food on the tray.
"Why are you sorry? Also, I'm sorry for how I behaved earlier it was out of line I hope you can forgive me," he gives me a soft smile and I nod my head.
"I forgive you and thank you for apologizing," I smile back at him and return to poking my food. Nick sighs and sits next to me, picking up my leg to rotate me to face him.
"What are you do-" before I can even finish the sentence he grabs my fork, loads it with some food, and holds it to my mouth with his hand under it to catch any drips. I give him a weird look but his face stays the same. He's serious.
"You need to eat, and if I have to feed you to get you to eat, then so be it," I nod and eat the food off the fork. Nick chuckles and I look back up at him.
"Hm?" I say while chewing the food slowly. He just smiles and wipes a crumb off my lip with his thumb. I blush slightly from embarrassment and take my fork back from him.
"I can feed myself," I say while turning forward again.
"Then why don't you?" He asks while finishing the food on his tray.
"I do feed myself," I halfway eat the food and push the other half around to make it look like I ate more.
"Fine I'll believe you this time," he smiles while grabbing my tray and walking to the dumpster. As I stand up, someone wraps their arms around my waist and leans my body back against theirs. Startled, I look back over my shoulder and see Rylie.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
"Awe, I don't even get a hello? And here I thought we were friends," he teases while pulling me tighter against him.
"Shouldn't you be with my brother somewhere else?" I say in annoyance while trying to move his hands off me, just then, Nick comes back, pushes Rylie's arms off me, and pulls me from him and into Nick's arms.
"Can't you see he doesn't want to be near you? You're making him uncomfortable," Nick says while protectively tightening his grip around me. It feels kind of nice and I can't help relaxing with his touch. Rylie just clicks his tongue in annoyance and walks away. After a second, I step away from him and smile.
"Thank you, you didn't have to do that though," I sigh and rub the back of my neck.
"Yes, I did. I want to stick by your side and I want you to like me," he smiles and brushes a piece of hair away from my face. I can feel my cheeks heat up and I quickly look away. Nick chuckles and wraps his arm around me, leading me to my locker. He's so nice. I don't get it. I haven't done anything to deserve it. I wonder if he'd freak out if I told him I'm gay? I'd rather not test it.
"What's on your mind?" he asks while removing his arm from my shoulder.
"Nothing why?" I open my locker and grab my supplies for my next class then close it. I look over to see Nick staring at me.
"You're not hard to read, but I won't push you," he smiles and ruffles my hair and I can feel my stomach flip in me. I look away again to hide the blush rising on my cheeks.
"It's nothing important I promise," I say reassuringly. Nick nods and I lead him to my next class.
The rest of my classes flew by and it was nice to have Nick by my side. The next thing I know, it's the end of the day and we're at my locker, packing my bag when Rylie walks up to me.
"We still on for tonight?" I turn my head to look at him and he smiles. I nod and grab my bag from my locker and shut it. I then look at Nick and he smiles sweetly at me.
"Do you want me to walk you home?" I ask and he shakes his head.
"I'm supposed to stay with you since my parents don't live out here. Your mom agreed to it so I'll either go with you to his house or I'll ride home with your brother," he says while ruffling my hair. Again with the hair.
"You can ride home with his brother," Rylie hisses out while pulling me to him by my waist. I try not to let it show but I can't help but blush. Nick rolls his eyes and walks to my brother. Once they are gone and out of sight, I smack Rylie's hand off me.
"You didn't have to be so mean," I sigh while turning to face him.
"Sorry, he just annoys me," Rylie rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. I roll my eyes and I see a slight smirk appear on Rylie's face. Eventually, he snaps out of it and leads me to his car. Once we get in, he drives me to his house and parks in the driveway.
