Third Person POV

"Let's do it!" Barcode urged his Phi Jeff. "There's so much we can do with thirty million bahts, ohmygahd!"

"Just find someone else if you really want to do it," Jeff said handing Barcode's phone back to him and going back to the kitchen counter to finish his tall glass of mango juice.

Barcode pouted.

"But I wanna join it only if you are my partner," Barcode tried to coax Jeff.

"I'm sure you can find a better partner than me," Jeff argued. "Why don't you try Apo?"

"Are you serious right now???" Barcode shot wide eyes at Jeff. "Do you want Phi Mile to kill me?"

Jeff did not want to admit to Barcode that the reason he was sure that it would be a waste of his time was because there was no way that they could win those thirty million bahts. There was bound to be at least one time during the six months when he would forget the rules and make some kind of physical contact with Barcode.

Jeff did not hear Barcode approach him.

Jeff had just tilted his head to finish drinking the rest of his mango juice when he felt Barcode's arms encircle his waist from behind.

Jeff quickly pulled away.

"Please, please, please," Barcode tried to insist as he moved close and encircled Jeff's waist with his arms once more.

"No, Barcode," Jeff gently removed Barcode's arms from his waist. "I'm not doing it and that's final."

Barcode was almost in tears as he dejectedly walked back to the living room and sat back on the sofa, his head bowed low.

Jeff placed his empty glass into the sink and walked towards Barcode, feeling slightly guilty for causing him to feel miserable for the second time today.

"Tell you what," Jeff said placing an arm around Barcode's shoulder," If you really want to do it I'm gonna call my cousin Ohm..."

"No!" Barcode flat out rejected Jeff's idea. "If you're not doing it then I'm not doing it. It's that simple."

Jeff heaved out a loud and heavy sigh.

He pulled Barcode's shoulder to make Barcode face him fully.

He looked Barcode straight in the eyes and said, "I guess it's time for me to reveal something to you but promise me that after I do so you won't stay away from me or try to avoid my company."

"What is it that you want to tell me?" Barcode asked.

"Promise me first," Jeff said, his voice quivering and almost in a whisper.

"I solemnly promise," said Barcode.

Jeff was about to open his mouth when Barcode's phone started to ring.

"It's my dad," Barcode said nervously.

Barcode swiped his phone screen and said, "Yes, Dad?"

After a few moments of silence Barcode said, "Ok Dad I will come out right now."

Barcode tapped on his phone screen to end the call.

Then he turned to Jeff and said, "My dad is at the gate in a taxicab. He wants me to accompany him to the ophthalmologist. He will not be able to drive himself home after the eye procedure that's why we have to take a cab."

"Let me bring you both to the eye clinic," Jeff said walking over to a corner of the living room where his car key was hanging from a hook.

"No, no, no," Barcode said hurriedly. "There's no need. The taxi is already there to take me and my dad to the eye clinic."

"Alright then," Jeff said. "I will walk you to the gate."

At the gate Barcode paused.

"You will still tell me what you wanted to tell me earlier, right?"

"I will," Jeff replied, knowing in his heart of hearts that he had changed his mind about confessing his feelings to Barcode because he realized that it was too early to do so.
