"Kim!! Zeke!!" I yell running up the stairs to their room.
"Yeah?? Is everything okay?" Kim replies meeting us at the stairs.
"Not really..... we called the hotel Mom and Dad were staying at
and they said they never checked in." Rachel said yet once again,
like a threat was never put upon us. She doesn't seem worried.
This was scary. We had no idea were Mom or Dad where.
"Umm..... I think your.... Mom and Dad, maybe went to stay
somewhere else...... are you guys hungry??" Aunt Kim asks.
Aunt Kim didn't seem very sure, and I think she knows exactly
where Mom and Dad are.
"Why won't you tell us???!!!" I scream as Rachel holds me from
attacking Kim.
"Emily STOP!!!!" Rachel screams. "EMILY!!!" Rachel kept screaming.
"STOP EMILY!!!" Aunt Kim screams.
I broke loose.
"Why??" I ask, choking on tears. "Why won't you tell us where our
parents are?? I WANT TO GO HOME!!!" I say, falling to the floor, crying.I'm actually crying. I look over to Rachel and as always, no
expression. Ever scince we got here Rachel has been holding back. She shows nothing.
"I need to talk to you, Emily." Rachel said walking down the stairs.
I wipe the tears from my face and walk down the stairs leaving
Aunt Kim with the ugliest look I could give.
"What?" I ask crossing my arms watching Rachel swing gracefully with her back to me.
"If you have something to say, turn around and speak!!!" I say expressing the most anger.
Rachel gets up and walks to the other side of the swing and sits
down and slowly looks up at me. A single tear managed to escape
her grasp and smear her cheek. I have never seen Rachel cry, ever."Rachel,.......I......" I say with guilt. This entire time I had been so
rude and unable to understand. I walk up to her and take her hand.
"Mom and Dad never got off that plane, Emily." She says with all the strength she has left.
"What?? What do you mean they never got off?"
"They don't love us, they never did......."
*silence*
I felt a tear slowly reach my mouth.
"Aunt Kim and Zeke said they would take us in........ this is our home now."
My mouth was trembling and my throat was tight.
"When we were calling the hotel earlier, I was hoping that it was
all a joke and that they didn't leave, but they weren't kidding."
"How do you know this?" I ask Rachel, trying to hold on to all I have left, my sister.
"Before we even left to get on the the plane, Dad held me back
and told me to watch out for you. I was forced to act like
everything was fine and this would be a fun trip, when really all
I wanted to do was scream."
Rachel has now lost her strength.
I sat on the swing next to her.
I am in the same condition as Rachel at this point.
"Hey, at least we have eachother." I say attempting to smile,
lightening the mood.
"Yeah, we have eachother, and you're honestly all I need to get through this."
