Mark had seen enough, Haechan needed him.

So without hesitation and not giving Hyuck a moment to fight back, Mark stepped forward.

His arms around Haechan's waist as he picked up the younger with ease, of course met with his protests.

Mark essentially dragged Hyuck out of that cafeteria into the hall, whines and objections still pouring out of him.

Oh how he hoped nobody would walk by right now, this definitely wasn't a good look.

"Hyuckie, stop it."

"No- let me go you idiot!"

But Mark didn't budge, he waited it out and before he knew it Haechan's voice became softer.

The boy's sobs began to take over his words. Realizing he was in Mark's arms, close to him, taking in his scent.

He missed that, even if it was out of pity.

His hands that were previously pushing against Mark's chest softened in force, moving to grip the red zip up the older boy was wearing.

Hyuck pulled him closer, hiding his face against Mark's chest as he continued to cry. It was embarrassing.

Everything about it. Humiliating. It felt degrading.

He himself ruined this relationship, now he was the one sobbing against his ex.

Mark's heart hurt at that, rubbing Haechan's back as soft and soothingly as he could. Eyes almost brimming with tears as well.

To anyone else it may seem stupid, what Hyuck did was terrible. But Mark knew the boy the way nobody else did.

The fact he projects this tough exterior because he's terrified of being put down.

Soft and sweet Hyuck was all Mark really knew, constantly amused by the shift in attitude around others.

Seeing him like this, at such an extent of a breaking point that he'd cry publicly, was heartbreaking.

"Hyuckie it's ok..."

"Are you fucking...serious? What about this is- is ok? I don't have a boyfriend anymore! And it's making me realize how useless I am without one!"

"First of all, hush, we're in school and people are going to think I'm trying to kill you. Second of all, you are in peak breakup phase. It's supposed to get better with time but..."

Haechan scoffed, pulling away from Mark's chest and rolling his eyes the way he usually did when he was about to oppose Mark.

"Yeah usually that also means we shouldn't interact to like, heal or whatever."

Mark's gaze softened into an almost sad smile, hands still on Hyuck's back holding him close.

He should let go. Key word 'should'.

"You're right. And I care about you so I'm willing to do what you think is best for you. Would you like me to let go and walk away?"
