Kun flinched almost violently at the sound the milk frothing machine made when turned on.

He'll never get used to it, and he's baffled at how YangYang doesn't bat at eye.

Shaking his head to dismiss the life threatening scare, he finished making the drink with no more hiccups.

Handing it over to the kind customer and proceeding to stand around doing nothing.

"It's not super busy today."

"Yeah, Wednesdays are usually a slow day." YangYang laughed, flipping through a magazine while leaning against the counter.

"So." The younger began. "How long have you and Renjun been together."

"Officially? A little while now. Maybe a few months? It's a little complicated to be honest. Long story, yknow." He shrugged, tapping his finger against the half-full tip jar.

"Well from the looks of it, we've got time."

Kun found himself smiling at that, he honestly had very few friends to talk to. Johnny was sort of busy these days, with Ten. He still didn't get along super great with Renjun's circle of friends.

So someone offering to listen was nice, a change. A good change.

☕️

"Sooo...he defended his friend for being unreasonable but didn't even seem to acknowledge why you were upset?"

"Pretty much!" Kun scoffed remembering that day he snapped at Renjun after the 'Haechan situation'.

Up until now he felt so guilty. But YangYang had a point. Renjun could've been a bit more understanding at least.

Then perhaps Kun wouldn't have been so upset with him.

"Sorry...that sounds like it was rough. But you two seem happy now."

Silence ensued, for whatever reason Kun hesitated to respond. "We are. Just some little things here and there. Like he thinks everything I do is to purposely spend less time with him."

"That's annoying of him to do, I'd never tolerate that."

His instinct should've been to tell YangYang that wasn't ok. He couldn't just call Renjun annoying in front of him.

But for some reason he didn't object.

He just nodded silently.

Until happy little footsteps and the ring of the counter bell snapped him out of what seemed like a trance.

"Hi my love~"

Kun smiled brightly, leaning over to place a quick kiss on his boyfriends lips.

Renjun opened his mouth to speak, which Kun beat him to by taking his hand, placing a cookie in the middle of his palm.

"I'll get your drink in a second and per usual, don't you dare pay."

A fond smile came to Renjun, nodding before moving towards the pick-up counter where YangYang stood.

"Bored?" He asked curiously, peeking over to the magazine, his eyes darting back up to YangYang.

"Yeah, it's been slow. Kun and I have been chatting for a good while."

Renjun hummed in acknowledgment. Freeing his cookie from the wrapped and splitting the baked good in half.

Handing a piece to YangYang.

Who hesitated for a second before taking it. Muttering a soft 'thank you'.

Kun watched the two. He wondered what YangYang was thinking.

After all, he probably majorly overshared about his relationship, he didn't mean to paint Renjun in a bad light.

He hoped YangYang silently acknowledged that shit happens. Renjun was a sweetheart through and through.

With that being said Kun joined the two, sliding Renjun's drink over to him before giving him a small peck on his cheek.

"I'll be off in about an hour. Your place?"

"Sure, oh and-"

"I already added sugar." Kun gave the younger a wink, walking away once again to help another customer.

"God, I love that man."

YangYang smiled at him, letting out a chuckle. "I bet you do, he's great."

"Oh he really is. Borderline perfect."

"Yeahhh...hey, did you find a study partner for music theory? I can't find anyone willing to sit down with me."

"Oh- no I don't have anyone. I'll be your study buddy!"

"Cool! Thanks, you're sweet..." YangYang glanced over at Kun, under Renjun's radar of course, who'd been promptly distracted by a puppy passing by the window.

Kun felt a sudden unease settle in, he couldn't understand the glance.

Was it awkward? Did it have ill intent? Towards him? Towards Renjun?

He didn't mean to drive a wedge between the two, not that they were insanely close friends but they were on decent terms at the very least.

Then again, YangYang had no reason to be entirely on Kun's side.

They were even less acquainted. Simply coworkers.

Either way, he didn't like the feeling.

So he powered through the last hour of his shift, bidding YangYang the most casual goodbye possible before leaving.

Hand in hand with Renjun.

Who'd been politely waiting for him to get off work.

Renjun did notice his boyfriend squeezing his hand suspiciously tight, but he didn't think too much into it.

At least not in the moment.
