Joseph led Eliza away from the village. Neither of them looked at Hannah's body when they left. Eliza's eyes were red and watery. He pulled her into a hug, he didn't know what else to do. Her tears absorbed into his shirt.
"Sssshh, it's okay, I've got you." Joseph's soothing voice made Eliza feel better. Hannah's blood was on her hands.
"I wish she was still alive. I wish she never killed Lexa. I wish she was the girl she used to be." Eliza pulled away from Joseph's hug. "I need to tell you something."
"You can tell me anything." At that moment, none of them spoke. Eliza leaned in and kissed Joseph. He didn't break away, he kisses her back on the lips. Nothing mattered at that moment. They were just two, young people on earth who love each other.
After a few seconds, Eliza pulled away again. "I love you." She whispered in Joseph's ear. Her hands slipped into his, and they locked fingers.
"I love you too. All that matters now, is that you're alive."
