I look down in the crib,
That my daughter stayed asleep.
Her lips were blue,
And I could still hear her weep.
____________________This one is quite self explanatory. His daughter is dead but he sees her staying still as being asleep. Her blue lips are as a result of hypothermia. So that's how she died because h wasn't paying attention to her and she got really cold since it was winter. Now the last line where he can still hear her weeping is because she's haunting him. (Tbh, I would haunt him too)
