Secrecy (Esmerald x Gypsy! Woman of the Night! Reader)

I sat in my tent in the Court of Miracles. I was getting ready for the coming night. I and several other gypsy girls became women of the night in order to get money for our people. I was in a relationship with Esmerald, but I kept the way I got money a secret. Esmerald was out, presumably stealing money from unsuspecting guards.

I put on my make up and did my hair before slipping on my outfit. It was very expensive.

I walked towards the tent flaps, pausing when Esmerald stepped through. He looked at me, "Where are you going? Like this?" I looked away from him, "No where important, but I have to go." I tried to walk past him, but he grabbed my wrist, "Tell me (Y/n)." I pulled away from him, "I can't. I'll be back later." Then I rushed out. Esmerald tried to follow me, but Clopin stopped him. Clopin knew what I was doing and he knew that we needed money to buy food and water.

I met up with the other girls and we headed into Paris. We split up, each of us taking a portion of the city. I happened to run into the captain of the guard and a few of his men. They stared at me. I smiled. It wasn't a kind smile, no. It was a seductive smile.

I spoke, "Care for some entertainment, gentlemen?" The captain spoke, "What kind of entertainment?" I gestured to the poor street musicians, "Give me some music and I'll show you." Without hesitation, the captain's men paid the musicians. The musicians began to play and I began to dance.

The men never once moved their gaze away from me as I danced. Their eyes followed my swaying hips. As I did one of my turns, I caught sight of Esmerald in the shadows. I continued to dance as if I hadn't seen him. As the song came to an end, I drew closer to the three men, "Were you entertained?" The captain looked to the two guards, "Get back to your posts." The two guards left. I touched his arm, "If you were not entertained, I have other methods..." He brought me close.

Before he could do anything, however, someone behind him hit him and knocked him unconscious. He crumpled to the ground, revealing Esmerald behind him. Esmerald spoke, "What are you doing?!" I turned away from him, "How do you think I have money to give to our family?" He placed a hand on my shoulder, "I know, but I want to hear it from you."

I looked at him, "I...am a woman of the night. Is that what you wanted to hear?" He hesitated, "Has another man...?" I shook my head, "No. I only dance. I've only ever gone as far as to take my top off, but that's it." I bent down and removed the coin purse from the captain's belt. I showed it to Esmerald, "See? This is enough to feed all of us."

He looked at me, "I know you only want to help our people, but it's too dangerous. Those guards could have arrested you or..." I placed a hand on his arm, "But they didn't. Now, let's go home." He sighed, "Fine, but promise me you won't do this anymore." I rolled my eyes, "Fine, fine. Now we need to leave before those two guards return." With that, we returned home to our home in the Court Of Miracles.
