caught red handed

"So I've managed to fix everything with Chantelle, has she told you?" Tristan begins as we edge round the corner, passing by my mums wedding gown shop.

"Yeah, she called me yesterday and told me a lot." I answer him briefly. "You meant all of that and I'm glad you guys are back."

There was a silence in the air, followed by a long sigh by Tristan. We where walking down 27th Avenue with the breeze whistling past us as a few drops of rain fell from the cloudy sky.

"I actually didn't mean any of it."

"What are you talking about?" I laugh.

"I don't feel the same about Chantelle like I did before."

"Then why didn't you tell her instead of pretending you do?" I was clearly confused at his dishonesty towards Chantelle.

"I don't want to break her heart, and then chase after her best friend..."

"That's absurd!" I break through, Tristan has caught feelings for me?

"No, it's completely normal." He says calmly, it's like he's planned every bit of this conversation in his mind.

"But me? Seriously Tristan, it's not April 1st for you to be fooling me."

He stops and stands in front of me, "watch me prove it." And he kisses me right in the middle of the road with everyone passing by and giving us evil looks. It was that same sensation I felt from him that I never got from Micah, I felt as if Tristan was made for me and now that we've found each other everything would be perfect. We where dozed off in our own world, watching the blur of the people pass by as we wrapped each other tight, expressing love.

"Destiny? Tristan?" A slim, vibrant voice questioned us.

I break away from Tristan, turning to reveal jet-black hair sleeked back in a pony tail with a furrowed expression.

"Chantelle, I can explai-" Tristan argues, walking to her.

"No, don't even bother." She interrupts vigorously. I can see every muscle in her face tensing, sweat dripping and her jaw clenching.

"This was an honest mistake, I swear Chantelle." I try consolidate her.

"Your a filthy bitch. Don't you ever speak to me." She says, motionlessly, fleeing away.

Tristan tries to call after her but she paces her way back into her car with tear drops rushing down her red hot cheeks.

"This was all your fault!" I push Tristan before walking away. I can't believe I actually done that and this time I was as much as a culprit as Tristan. I see Chantelle's car whizz right by with her tinted windows blocking me from seeing her.

Tristan manages to catches up to me, "I'm sorry Destiny but I can't help what I'm feeling, please don't be mad at me."

The rain had started flowing down quickly, turning the scene glum by the minute.

"Leave me alone."

"Destiny, I really like you. Just give me chance?"

"Do you think I'm going to go out with you right after you dumped my best friend?"

He was silent. The rain created an unseen barrier between us, his face was dripping wet and so was his hair. He shoved his hands in his jacket pockets, feeling the numb air. I walk on to the side of the road to my car.

"You're stupid." I beam. Giving him one last look, I open the door to my Porsche and straddle in, not bothering to give him a second look.

Don't get me wrong, Tristan is everything and more you could ask for in a boy, the looks, the brains, the everything towards you. You can always rely on him for making your day, making you happy, you would never see him walk by you not acknowledging your presence. You would be the only one to him.

But the problem is, his ex is my best friend. Or was my best friend.
