It had been two days since Leah and Race visited Brooklyn. Two days since her encounter with the king of Brooklyn himself. It was strange, despite his reputation of being a cocky leader. To Leah, he had seemed more polite than she expected.
As these thoughts were going through her head, a few of the boys, including Jack, brust through the doors. "They raised the damn prices on them papers!" Race practically shouted. "They what?!" Leah said as she stood up and walked over. "Pulitzer raised the prices on the paper, 60 cents per hundred!" Mush said with a look of pure panic on his face.
"Well- well what are we gonna do about it!" Leah said, crossing her arms in front of her. That's when the boys went quiet and looked at Jack "we'es goin on a strike" he said with a confident grin. "Like the trolley workers?" "Exactly!" The new kid, Davey piped up.
"We can't just start a strike, what happens if the bulls show up? We'll be outnumbered " she said, a concerned tone in her voice. "Well.." Race rubbed the back of his neck "wese gonna get the other Burroughs to join and....we were hopin you would come to Brooklyn with me and Jack"
"Why me?" She asked again, tilting her head. "You talked to him, the other night, maybe you can get a deal out of him or something "
There was a long pause before the girl sighed "alright" as race was about to cheer she spoke up "don't make me regret this"
