First day at mercy west

Hope you're liking this so far let me know if it's
taking too long to get interesting

I stare at my phone waiting to open the message, what should I reply? I open the message and start typing "hey Amelia it was nice me-" no that doesn't sound right "hey Amelia hope you don't miss me too much haha" that sounds odd maybe just say hi?

"Hey Amelia you still want to hang out, I'm free tomorrow after work?" yes that sounds perfect. I send the message and plug in my phone... My alarm is set for 7:00 am hopefully it goes off and i don't sleep through it. Don't want to be late on my first day. I put my phone on my side table and turn over, I'm so tired I haven't had a good sleep in ages!
My eyes start to close and I fall asleep.

*7:00 am*

It's too early for this as my alarm is blaring in my ear. Has Amelia replied to my message is the first thing that comes to my mind, I grab my phone and see a notification. "Sounds great! I'll meet you in reception after work." This put me in a great mood I get up and have a shower. I love a shower in the morning it wakes me up. After drying my hair I put it up into a ponytail and then got dressed, it doesn't really matter what i'm wearing since I'll be wearing scrubs so I put some leggings and a t-shirt on.

"You ready to go yet!" shouts Arizona to the top of the stairs, I run over to the railing.

"yeah I'll be down in a minute to put my shoes on and we can go!" I can't be late for my first day as a paediatric attending even though I live with the head of my department. After leaving the house and getting to the hospital Derek has to give me a tour around the hospital since he's the chief of surgery.

"Oh y/n your the new paediatric attending!" he pauses to finish signing off a document "give me a minute to finish this and I'll give you a tour, i'll also introduce you to the other attendings and your residents" I wait in the doorway for him to finish when Meredith walks in.

"Der- y/n what are you doing here?" she looks at me and grins at me, maybe she was in a bad mood yesterday but oh well.

"I'm the new paediatric attending I should've said something yesterday at Joes," I reply to Meredith and she replies in a sweet voice

"oh it's fine don't worry!" Derek finishes signing the documents and as we leave to start the tour he tells Meredith that he'll find her at lunch and gives her a kiss on the cheek.

As we're walking down the corridor I say to him "You and Meredith are you dating orrr?" he laughs and smiles, his laugh is nice and calming.

"She's my wife, we got married quite recently actually!" He seems proud like he's received a golden medal.

"ohh ok" I reply to him then notice Amelia walking past with a red headed lady.

"y/n?" she reverses and introduces me to her friend "Addison this is the girl from the bar!" Amelia gives me a hug which shocked me since i wasn't expecting it, I hug her back she's warm.

"hey y/n I'm head of neonatal surgery!" she shakes my hand, her and Amelia seem close so I hope she likes me.

Derek gets paged and leaves me with Amelia and Addison "I've heard a lot about you from Amelia" Addison tells me, I can feel my cheeks getting hotter and redder by the second. I've got to think of an excuse to get me out of this.

"I better go find Arizona she probably needs help from her attending." Amelia smiles and I say goodbye and start walking towards the paediatric section of the hospital, I find Arizona and she's staring at me as i walk over. She was definitely watching me.

"You totally like Amelia I could see you blushing from here!" she looks so proud of herself that she's figured it out...

"Arizona someone might hear you!" I look at her face and its dropped like she didn't already know. Wait, maybe she didn't and she was joking.

"I was only joking but you do don't you!" Oh for gods sake.
