Chapter 2

After realizing that it wasn't safe for them to stay in North Carolina, Cornelia, her sister in law Lili, and the kids Liliana and Matthew went to Florida to stay with Cornelia's best friend Marie. Marie is a single, beautiful, young woman who has been friends with Cornelia and her sister since they were two years old. What Cornelia didn't know was that Mark was Marie's older brother. He had been away at military school for years when Cornelia and Mary were at her house and nobody ever talked about him. When they got to Marie's house they found her sitting on the couch. They asked her where they could put their stuff and she told them where each of their rooms were. When Cornelia and Lili got to their room they found out who had been in there before them. They ran downstairs with a picture of Marie and Mark when they were little. Cornelia asked Marie why she had that picture and Marie told them that Mark was her brother. Lili panicked and ran upstairs to tell Liliana and Matthew not to unpack that they were leaving but when she got up there she found Liliana lying on the floor dead and Matthew looking down at her with a knife in his hand. He was crying and trying to tell his mom he fell asleep and when he woke up he found his sister dead with the knife in her hand. His mother ran downstairs to tell Cornelia and Marie what happened but when she got down there she found Marie with her lifeless body sprawled across the couch. Cornelia was nowhere to be found.
