"Bertha rang for her butler and housekeeper. "It seems that Mr Russell has found our long lost niece and he's bringing her and her son here. Please make certain two rooms are prepared as well as clothing from the extra wardrobe."
"Yes Mrs Russell!" Mrs. Bruce said."And Church the young man is 12 so Have Mr. Watson ready to take care of the boy to explain proper dress. unfortunately they had to live in lower class conditions. My niece may know but she was injured and lost her memory so I do not know what she remembers. "If you'll be gentle with her, Mrs Bruce? She's had a very trying time."
"Yes, of course," She replied with a nod.

George did not tell his wife what condition to receive her niece in but she did not expect the girl to have matted hair, to be as thin as a rail, bruises all over her body that wasn't covered or dark circles under her eyes. She was glad Martha was not here to see her, She and George agreed not to notify her until Cora was well enough to be seen.
"My dearest, Cora," she said treating her carefully. Who knew what that horrid man had done to her George spoke with the doctor but he chose not to tell her. She looked at young Master George . He seemed handsome enough. It looked as though Cora took more care of him than herself.

Cora smiled at her aunt but it didn't reach her eyes. Last night had been horrid and she hadn't slept a wink. When she returned home Martin had been absolutely livid. He locked George in his room and began beating her. He left her barely conscious on the sitting room floor. Cora entertained the idea of leaving but she was too weak and couldn't imagine leaving her son behind. Fortunately the door banged open and the police too Martin away. She felt a hand on her shoulder and saw uncle George. After their meeting her memories started coming back and she wanted to return to England then and there but her uncle suggested she should be physically healed enough before traveling. She acquiesced not wanting to worry Robert with her condition. Especially when the doctor said she was pregnant with Martin's child. She felt absolutely ashamed. Would Robert even want her back? Surely Violet forced him to remarry by now.

"Cora?" She blinked, looking up at her aunt. "This is Mrs. Bruce. She'll make certain you're comfortable. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything."
Tears fell freely from her eyes. "Robert," she whispered.
