Nick's POV

Buzz, Buzz, Buzz!

I grumbled rolling over and switching off my alarm that was rudely awakening me on my phone. I had forgotten to turn off my 6:30am alarm that woke me up for early morning rugby training on Sunday. But since my injury and being laid off training until the start of term and it being the summer holidays, I'd clearly forgotten to turn it off after spending a few minutes trying to go back to sleep I admitted defeat and gave up trudging down stairs "come on Nellie, breakfast time" I sighed rubbing my eyes almost shocked at my own morning voice as Nellie followed me eagerly jumping off the bed clearly full of beans or just excited at the mention of food

Flicking on the kettle I checked my phone for any messages - ok any messages from Charlie specifically, but it being the ungodly hour it was I didn't expect him to be up and awake yet and to my surprise he wasn't "good morning love, you two are up early!" Mum called as she shuffled through the hallway into the kitchen, Nellie trotting up to say hello excitedly "forgot to turn off my training alarm yesterday before bed and couldn't get back to sleep" I said through a yawn and mum chuckled "I thought as much" she smiled "so, what are your plans for today?" Mum asked as she got the breakfast things ready "um I am taking Charlie out on a date" I tell her the thought makes my stomach flutter with excitement I had the whole thing planned it was a redo date from a few weeks ago but I wanted to keep it a surprise mum grinned warmly as I explained my idea "you really are a hopeless romantic Nick Nelson I'd sort that morning breath and bed head out before you leave though" mum comments jokingly messing up my hair some more "thanks for the vote of confidence mum" I smiled back mum and I were really close but we didn't spend many early mornings together so this was lovely

My phone suddenly buzzed loudly on the kitchen worktop - it was Charlie he must've known we were talking about him "speak of the devil" I say brightly unlocking my phone to read the text "his ears must be burning, come on Nellie outside" mum calls and Nellie plods lazily to the back door to go outside for her morning wee, leaning myself against the counter I can't help but smile when I see the messages.

Yup still feels great saying that

6:45 am Charlie - Hey! are you okay thought you said your never awake this early during the holidays xx
Also.... what are we doing today? - asking for a friend

6:47 am Nick - Morning sunshine I am good thanks just tired, I've been a total idiot I forgot to turn off my Sunday morning training alarm last night so I was rudely awoken and I was having a really great dream too because ... you were there! ;)
Nellie Mum and I are having breakfast now cos no one couldn't sleep
Are you okay
How did you know I was awake lol xx

6:49 am Charlie - I am okay thanks another late night and early morning thanks to my insomnia doing a number on me again, but I'll be okay when I see you later!
That sounds nice what are you having I'm stuck with toast and fruit again but its a big step in my fear food list because I am adding peanut butter and jam to it triple textures because the peanut butter is crunchy
Umm you snap chatted me this at like 6:30 this morning? xxx
Also mum is asking so I need to tell her something you know what she's like
