wills pov:
"happy birthday dear willow, happy birthday to you."
they all sang loudly as i sat at the table, my face flushed while i didn't quite know how to react. i just grinned from one ear to the other as i clapped for them.
we were in the o'connells garden and everyone was here. for me. the whole o'connell family including claudia, then casper and alex, laura, and even zoe and drew showed up although we weren't even that close.
i blew out the candles on top of the cake before silently making a wish. everyone was hugging and congratulating me as if i accomplished something different than just finally turning 20.
lastly billie came up to me and i greeted her, smiling like an idiot when she engulfed me in a hug.
i'm grateful for everyone that was here, don't understand me wrong and i really loved being around all these people but it'd also be enough for me if it was just us two.
her blond, shiny hair lightly tickled my neck as i pulled away. she held my waist firmly while alternately switching her gaze from my eyes to my lips. she bit her bottom lip softly as she did so.
instead of holding my waist she reattached her hands to my face before giving me a last shy smile with opened eyes.
she leaned in and softly kissed my lips. she was being so gentle causing butterflies to erupt inside my stomach. i pulled her in closer by her waist.
"see drew, i told you so..."
i heard zoes voice in the background, making me pull away from billies addictively soft lips. i hid my face in the crook of her neck where i left a little peck.
"happy birthday again. i love you so much."
she whispered into my ear before she carefully distanced our faces so she could look into my eyes.
"thank you baby. i love you too so much."
"get a room..."
they interrupted our cute moment making us both roll our eyes in unison.
"now, will, can you please cut the cake? i'm gonna die if i don't get to try this delicious looking thing in a minute..."
casper exaggerated.
"i'm getting to it."
i huffed jokingly before grabbing the knife and cutting the cake. after everyone had gotten a piece we all settled down and a nice atmosphere of friendly chattering spread over the table.
hours later, everyone had gone home except for me and billie as we helped cleaning up the garden and house.
suddenly slender arms snaked around my torso and billie laid her head on my shoulder.
"i hope you had a nice birthday, baby..."
"i did indeed. thank you so much for organizing everything... i'm sorry for my outburst yesterday while you were doing all of this."
"it's already forgotten, love, i promise. i didn't do this all by myself though, just so you know. casper was helping as well. it was actually him, who had the idea and helped decorate the garden and all of that."
"so that's why he was so off, as well."
i put the clean dishes next to the sink and turned around in billies arms. i studied her features and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"you're so pretty."
"stop..."
she dragged out the o.
