#Reds POV
Dropping the fresh kill in a hurry, I broke into a sprint at a blinding speed, in the direction of my cave home, where I had left my human half-an-hour ago.
Reaching the base of the cliff in mere seconds, I leapt into the air to land on the caves ledge, only to find no trace of my human. I heard her scream seconds ago, and yet she's nowhere to be seen? WHAT?!
I turned in all directions, lifting my head to smell and taste the air around me. Iron. Iron smell means blood. Shooting my eyes open, I stared down at the small, shallow pool of the red liquid in a notch in the rock ledge. Bending down I licked some of it up, and concluded that it is indeed from my human.
Standing again, I leapt into the air in that direction, landing amongst the branches, only to hit them running. With the worry of harm to my human fuelling my actions, I couldn't help but to just keep pushing and try to get her back.
With her scent strengthening the further I traveled, I hardened up, taking the brutal hits of thick branches, and tearing through the thick vines that grabbed at me. One vine even got around my throat, threatening to choke me, though with the adrenaline spike, I ripped my head free, before quickly continuing on my path.
Leaping from the canopy of the trees, I landed in a vast, scorched area, where a ship was currently parked about two hundred metres from me. With a low growl, I stalked forward, knowing full well that this ship was that of my birth race.
The sound of my heavy footsteps alerted the four Covenant Elites to my presence. Two came out guns blazing, though the blasts from their pathetic guns reflected off my tough hide. So they changed to their energy blades.
The deep purple, came in with a roar, swinging his blade down at my torso. I grabbed the wrist of his hand which held the weapon, and broke it instantly with a quick squeeze. He roared in pain.
Grabbing his leg, I lifted him up, and threw him at his tailing comrade. They both fumbled to the ground, growling and roaring at each other. I stomped over to them, reaching down to grab the one I threw, by his armoured shoulder, and ripped his helmet off. Looking into his purple eyes, I suddenly got a feeling I've never felt before.
Like he was familiar, and I once knew him. He must have felt a similar feeling, as he had stopped wriggling in my grasp. We stared into each other's eyes for a moment, before the blue one below us stabbed my flank with his blade.
I roared in fury and pain, dropping the purple one, before reaching for the smaller blue one. He tried to flee, but I grabbed his foot, and hurled him up and over my frame, before finally throwing him a few hundred feet away.
While this was happening, the last two Elites emerged from the ship, with my human between them in cuffs, and a large gash in her side. Seeing this sight, and how the largest grey one held his gun to her head, I hissed my spine chilling hiss, crouching low, and readying to pounce.
"Wait!", yelled the purple one from below me. He hurriedly stood up and got between me and my prey. "I know you! Calm down big guy!", he said, easing into a gentle whisper.
I tilted my head at him, flicking my ears towards him.
"What are you doing, C'larac?", bellowed the small grey male in the red armour, to the left of my human. "Are you mad?", he growled, stepping off the ramp, to come and aim his gun to my own head. "This...creature...is nothing but a freak show that the humans made to destroy all other life! Even the Yautja will kill this thing", he finished, not taking his eyes off of me.
The purple male held his broken wrist with care, as he thought for a moment.
I growled, looking from my human, to the purple male, and back again. 'This male gonna help?', I thought, locking eyes with my human. She whimpered as the larger grey male tightened his grip on her arm. I hissed in warning, before the purple one figured out why I was attacking.
"Release the human!", he demanded, looking from her then back to me. "Release her, and he'll settle!", he explained. The red armoured male nodded to his larger comrade on the ramp, before both lowered their weapons.
I was watching C'larac when Grace came running into my large heated torso, tears streaming down her face. I crouched lower, lifting her into my arms, before standing up again.
She sobbing eased as I started purring loudly. My actions didn't go unnoticed, because C'larac started talking.
"My apologies for any misunderstanding regarding this human of yours, big fella, but I-we...would greatly appreciate it if we could take you aboard for some tests?"
I was quiet until he said that word, 'tests', where I let out a hiss that made the lot of them flinch.
"Why do you want this thing aboard?", the red armoured guy growled in warning. "What is so important that you want to test on it?", he added, motioning to me with his weapon.
C'larac was silent for a moment. Still gently holding his broken wrist, before he finally looked up at me. "He might be the son I lost all those years ago ,Commander", he finally answered. I tilted my head at the small male, bending down before taking in his scent.
He did smell familiar in a way I have no clue about. I've never seen one of my birth race, unless they were dead and in pieces in the labs. I growled softly, wanting to know more about this male, but my human is my main focus. Perhaps another time or something.
I straightened up before turning and walking away.
"If you ever need anything son! Come find me!", C'larac called after me. I took note of what he said, and promised myself to figure out the meaning later. I will find him again, and figure out what he was to me, but with my human currently shaking, I must focus on her now.
With a loud guttural growl, I vowed to myself that no harm will ever befall little Grace ever again.
And that I will never forget.
