Warm, calloused hands cupped her cheeks. The rough contrast on her soft skin tickled, raising a giggle from her belly. She peered through her thick lashes at the pools of honey glimmering down at her and smiled. The sun always made his eyes shine bright in the prettiest shade of caramel.
The chilly winds of fall danced across her exposed flesh. She shuffled closer into the man's tall frame, nuzzling into his chest. The sharp, crisp smell of cinnamon and spice engulfed her senses. An image of pumpkin pie popped into her head, making her stomach rumble with need.
"What time do we have to be at your parent's house?" she muttered, feeling heat flush her ears. She knew her words were barely audible while she was smushed against him, but she hoped he got the hint from the tiny lion roaring in her body.
Her boyfriend's chest vibrated as he laughed. He ran a hand through her loose curls, stopping at her shoulder to rub circles on the base of her neck. "I can't hear you if you mumble."
A pout formed on her lips when she pulled back. "I said what time do we have to be at your parent's for dinner? I'm hungry!"
With a roll of his eyes and a wide grin, her boyfriend snickered. "Yeah, I got that. The zoo in your stomach snarled at me a second ago."
Her jaw dropped, and she gasped. She pressed her hand to her chest dramatically while feigning hurt in her features.
"It did not! That wasn't a snarl!" she exclaimed, only for her words to falter before she poked a finger at his arm. "It was more like a quiet yelp!"
"Uh-huh, sure," her boyfriend answered, unconvinced. He looped his pinky around the finger jabbing into his bicep, and moved it to his lips, pressing a kiss on the pad of her index. "Dinner doesn't start until seven, but I suppose we can visit Bella's cafe to feed the pack of beasts in your tummy before then. How does that sound?"
She pursed her lips to hip the smile threatening to grow. She cocked her head to the left while side-eyeing him. Ignoring her warmth rushing up her neck, she uttered, "That sounds alright."
