I didn't even realise that a man had appeared in the room. He looked to be a little taller than me with messy blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
Rhys blinked, "Calix! I didn't expect you to get here so soon."
The boy rolled his eyes, "Well obviously you have no idea how worried we were."
He turned to me, "I'm Calix, by the way. Resident w**** and messy gay disaster. Nice to meet you, I'm guessing your Feyre?"
I nodded, not used to someone being so open with their sexuality or the way that Calix spoke.
"If you ever get tired of Rhysie here, you can always come to me because I'm obviously the better option."
He walked towards me and grabbed my hand, "Now let's get you out of that dress, it really washes out your complexion and is just a disaster in general."
We left Rhys behind, who was standing there looking dumbfounded, and went to a room in this massive house.
Calix pushed the door open and let go of my hand, immediately jumping into the bed. He rolled off and said, "The ritual is complete."
He walked to the wardrobe in the corner and started looking through clothes before realising I was still standing there.
"Are you mute? If so that's okay but you really need to get out that dress."
"I'm not mute."
"Ok."
He picked out some dark float trousers and a shirt that seemed to be a matching set. I noticed how loose the clothing looked, how it didn't reveal as much as most other clothes. The wedding dress was tight and hugged my figure like an impossibly small corset and it was incredibly low cut. Those clothes were completely different.
I had only met this man a few minutes ago but already he understood me and knew what to do and say. He must've seen how uncomfortable I looked. How it brought up unpleasant memories of Under the Mountain. The way I was dressed up, the way men watched greedily.
I frowned, "How do you know what to do, how can you tell that I'm not comfortable in this?"
"Because I used to be in your position."
That made me even more confused. He sighed.
"I used to be a girl, Feyre. But it didn't feel right. I felt like a boy. So I was a boy."
"Ok."
He seemed unsure on my response. Maybe he thinks I hate him. But I could never hate him. Even if he was basically a stranger. He's already helped me so much and we've only just met.
I rushed forward and hugged him without thinking, "Thank you."
After we had our fair share of hugging, he covered his eyes and turned around while u got dressed.
"You can look now."
He span around, "By the Cauldron, you look amazing!"
I felt amazing. And beautiful. And powerful.
He sat me down on the bed, placing himself behind me so he could brush my hair.
"Okay so we're gonna be friends now, like besties, so while I'm doing your hair, let's trauma dump and talk about random s***!"
This man is the best Fae I've ever met.
