They had all left to their own rooms, Calix finding a spare one, refusing to let Cassian see him until the party.
Mor was in one of her iconic red gowns, yet it was shorter, making it easier for her to dance. She was already semi drunk. Amren had refused to join them. Rhys was wearing one of his more relaxed suits, not wanting to waste money on another when it was destroyed with spilt wine.
Azriel had left his Illyrian leathers behind and instead, he was wearing a loose shirt with weapons still covering him. Cassian had went for something similar but more. . . Cassian. Butterfly was being looked after by Amren. Amren was not very happy about that.
Calix rushed down the stairs.
Cassian's breath caught.
Calix was wearing a fishnet top with low waisted pants and a bottle of wine in hand.
"Let's party!"
They all left to go to Rita's. Cassian was a little more than distracted at this point.
When they got there, Calix was first to jump into the throng of dancing people. He danced and sang and was so f***ing beautiful while doing it.
Rhys whistled, "Damn, Cassian. Calix can dance."
Cassian growled, something he never thought he'd do, especially at Rhys.
Rhys grinned as if he were the Suriel itself, "I knew it!"
Cassian rolled his eyes, "Knew what?"
"That you and Calix are mates."
Cassian jumped forward, shushing him and looking around suspiciously.
"I'm guessing he doesn't know then?"
Cassian sighed, "How am I supposed to tell him? 'Oh hi Calix did you know we're mates and I've known ever since the second month we met?'. No! Bad idea! Because then he'll get mad at me and then he'll realise that he doesn't actually love me, at all, then he'll hate me for the rest of his life and after that!"
"Woah, woah, you guys are dating?" Rhys exclaimed. "And I thought I'd have to teach you what to do in a relationship."
Cassian rolled his eyes, "Ok, yeah, we're boyfriends, so?"
"How did it happen? I need context here!"
Cassian rolled his eyes once more, "We were laying in bed a-"
Rhys squealed. "You sleep in the same bed?!"
Cassian glared, "We were laying in bed and I asked him if he could tell me what my nickname means. He told me it meant my love, we had a big heartfelt conversation until I realised that he did actually love me. I told him that I loved him just as much and we became boyfriends."
"Was he worried that you didn't love him?"
"Yeah."
"Were you worried that he didn't love you?"
". . . Yeah."
"And you said the nickname means 'my love' right?"
Cassian made a noise of confirmation.
"There is literally no reason why he would hate you. Tell him!"
"I'll tell him when you talk to Feyre without her being angry at you."
Rhys grumbled and went to get more drinks. Cassian cast his sights upon his boyfriend. He loved that. Just the thought of it.
Calix. His boyfriend. His.
