Okay. So here's the deal. This happened about season 4, episode 2: Fallout.
The president has been exposed as an Alien and protesters began to riot. Now, I'm going to change the plot, just a little bit.
Supergirl is targeted by Mercy and Otis graves. They are intent on bringing her down. They develop a kryptonite weapon with the help of Lex Luthor and invade the DEO.
Killing many, they manage to hack the system and set all the aliens free. Everything is chaotic and in the frenzy, Supergirl is shot down by kryptonite. as she is lying on the ground, she sees one of the strongest aliens move towards Alex. Using the last of her strength, Supergirl flys as the alien, and knocks him down. But while he's falling, one of his fists collides with Supergirl, opening a portal and sending her to the Avengers' world. Upon arriving, she sees a bus flying and a man lying on the ground, about to get hit...
