Chapter Eight: Missing out

Akua said a word of prayer as she head to meet Maame and Papa for their morning devotion. Maame led praises and worship after which they headed for their daily activities. Upon getting out Maame realized, the sun was smiling broadly at them and since it was a Saturday, they planned to visit Abena in school.

Akua was so excited, she packed the letters she wrote for her sister, some gift she bought her from her savings. One of the workers came by with a few items for Abena from the supermarket in addition to a gift all the workers contributed for.Papa also got a gift for his first pride. Akua joined Maame in the kitchen as they prepared assorted Jollof rice with gravy that would be enough for her and her friends.
Half past noon, the set of to Abena’s school. She wasn’t expecting any visitor, so she did her early morning chores and other chores assigned with her inclusive, she then left to take her bath and headed to class for ealrly morning preps to study on her own. She was so engrossed in making short notes or summary that she didn’t notice Emerald standing close to her with her hands hidden behind her as if she’s shielding someone from Abena till Akua screamed “sissyyyyy!… they crashed into a hug.
They both descended hurriedly to meet Maame and Papa at the visitor’s lounge. They ate together the meal Maame prepared as one big family and that’s when Abena realized she was missing out a lot. Emerald was invited as well to dine with them. They took in their dessert made by Akua as Akua pointed the car boot and giggled. Abena went together with Emerald and Akua to see the gifts they prepared for Abena and her friends. They packed them to Abena’s dormitory and left to spend more time with Papa and Maame. They discussed about home, academics, work and about news and stories trending and closing up advice for them.
Emerald and Abena bid them goodbye as they took turns to hug. They rushed to the dorm to pack the items that were brought and shared them. They ate the Jollof rice together and took in the soft drinks. They went to take their bath and laid down to have some rest.
