Beauty and The Beast ( Chaennie Version )

Chapitre 3

Jennie peered out of the door.

"Is he gone?" she asked the chickens roaming outside. (She and her father kept the chickens to sell eggs to the townsfolk)

Imagine me, the wife of Kai Kim! As if I would ever marry someone with half a brain! Why, I bet the man has never left this town! Well, except to go kill those poor defenseless animals... He certainly doesn't have dreams...and...he certainly doesn't understand me, or my passion for singing.

 But...he does know everyone in town, and everyone likes him. Whereas they all see me as an oddball of sorts...maybe I would benefit from giving him a chance, I mean, after all...I would like a friend.

"What am I thinking!" she wondered aloud, spreading out in the meadow adjacent to their property.

"I can't do that! I mustn't! I want adventure in the great wide somewhere! I want it more than I can tell... I just want so much more than they've got planned..."

As these words left her lips, a panicked Felix came rushing through the meadow with cart in tow.

"Felix!" She cried, trying to sooth the horse. "What's wrong? Where... Felix! Where is my father ?"

Unhitching the horse from the cart, she gracefully swung herself up into the saddle, and urged him back towards the woods.

Chaeyoung paced the parlor, wandering what she might do with her prisoner. She had learned from Ten and Mino that the man's name was Siwon Kim, and that he hailed from a nearby village.

What use could I possibly make of him? He's of no use to me, and he'll go tell his village of me, and then what will I do? Perhaps he has a son or two. One of them could break the spell!

With this epiphany, Chaeyoung roared for Ten and Mino, and instructed them to question this old man, and see who might come looking for him.

The boys scampered off to the dungeon, to question Monsieur Kim.

"Monsieur?" called Ten.

"Y-Yes?" said the old man, worried that the Beast had returned.

"Have no fear, man!" encouraged Mino. "We are just here to ask you about your life in the village."

The pair listened intently as Siwon explained that he was an inventor, and that his partner in life had died many years before. ( He didn't mention that his partner was a man )

"So...did you have any children" Ten asked, gently.

"Well, no, not really", Siwon replied. "I have a niece, however, that I have raised since she was born. So she is like a daughter to me."

At this, Ten gasped, his internal gears set into motion.

"And your niece, your daughter...how old is she?"

"She will be nineteen this year" Siwon replied.

"And...is she...how does she look?" Ten wondered aloud.

"It's been said that she is the most beautiful girl in town, and I know she is by far the most talented and intelligent woman of her age." Siwon boasted, his eyes twinkling.

"Thank you so much sir," Ten said, a huge grin forming on his face.

"Sana will bring you your dinner shortly."

As they went to relay the news to Chaeyoung, Mino asked Ten why he grinned so.

"Because" Ten said jovially, "the enchantress never said it had to be a man to break the spell! This girl could be the answer to our dilemma! Besides, our Master has never seemed incredibly fond of men"
