"You don't know family trauma."
______________
Every time he opened his mouth to speak to you he was stone cold with his words. He barely looked at you unless you were in desperate need for attention, and you almost never were, so he almost never payed you mind. A man who was given the title father by biological association to you. The title he so didn't deserve for the shit he's put you through.
You locked yourself away in your room voluntarily because you felt like an outcast amongst your family. Nobody questioned why you did it they just knew you did, and they seemed glad about that.
Like every other chance, once breakfast was over you retreated to your room. You locked the door and you sat in your bed reflecting on life. You felt bad enough that you couldn't be the wonder child your parents were hoping for but they could've at least tried to care. Anywho, in less than a minute Aang came knocking on your window but you didn't acknowledge him. You wanted to be alone.
"Y/n?.." He softly called out your name. "Aang, not right now." He knew when to leave you be and so he did.
[Later That Night]
You were awoken by the jiggling sound of your doorknob turning at 9. You were frightened because that has never happened before. You sit up quickly, reaching under your bed for a weapon because you thought it was an intruder. When your door was busted open there stood your father. He had a bottle in one had, his shirt was torn and blood rolled down the side of his head. "You...you're not my child..."
He grumbled approaching your bed. "Dad??.." "DON'T CALL ME THAT!!" He slurred swinging his bottle back to his lips and down. He looked at your room and then back to you. "Get out.." His voice was hoarse from all the screaming he did while you were passed out. "What?–" "GET OUT OF HERE!!" F/n raised his hand and slammed it against the wall. "PACK YOUR SHIT AND LEAVE! I NEVER WANNA SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN!!"
You tried to call out for your mom but he kept cutting you off. "Shut up she doesn't wanna hear you." Your tears just kept falling and falling. You weren't even given the chance to pack clothes when your father ran out of patience. He grabbed you by your collar, opened your window and threw you out.
A sharp scream left your mouth causing your mother to run to the door and yell your name, only for you to land hard in the arms of your boyfriend who had no idea what was going on. All he knew was that you fell from your window and he was lucky enough to have caught you. "What's going on?!" Aang asked concerned. Your mother went back in and he looked up to catch your father drinking the last of his alcohol.
"What did you do?!" Aang yelled at the man. He took deep breaths to calm himself seeing that the wind around him was picking up. Fast. Aang held you then like a baby, he allowed your legs to go around him and your arms on his neck. Aang was too angry to speak again. He knew if he did he would attack your parents, and the last thing he wanted was for you to see him lose his mind.
The next morning when you awakened you found yourself on soft fur as a body pillow and bed. It was Appa, Aang's bison. The mammal snored laying on his belly and you were on his back, where he was keeping you safe.
"AH, you're awake!" Toph came walking and yelling. "Hey Toph. Good morning," "It's not a good morning!!" Toph waits for you to get up and you did. "It's a tough one! You were kicked out! Abandoned! Disowned!!"
"Yeah, you're unwanted." Katara joined in. She was sitting there all along sharpening a piece of wood. She was in charge of protecting your sleeping body as the rest went off to go hunt or work. They only recently came back. You scrunched your nose and rolled your eyes. "Thanks. Your words are comforting." "Not supposed to be!" Katara responded standing up.
She gave you a look and left the tent. Zuko on the other hand who heard all of this grabbed her by the arm, you by your shoulder and he dragged both of you outside. "Say it." He said to Katara, "tell Aang what you told her." Aang froze when he heard his name and turned around to see the two of you.
He wanted to scream and punch something! He couldn't understand why there was always a problem between the two of you. "I told your girlfriend the truth about her parents!" Aang face palmed and you tried not to cry.
"They don't love her! They never did! They're embarrassed of her and they don't want her!" "Would you like it if I said that about your mother?" Zuko asked with a scowl. Katara tensed up. She touched the necklace on her. Sokka was too ashamed to contribute to anything. "Yeah, yeah hurts doesn't it? You have no idea, what family trauma is all about. And you're damn lucky you never had to experience it princess." He mocked her. Zuko faced you and hugged you.
You were shocked. Zuko scared the shit out of you but here he was hugging you. You hugged him back quickly crying into his shoulder. He rubbed your back and whispered calming words to you as you let it all out. "It's okay..I know it hurts. I'm sorry you have to go through this so young. I'm sorry..."
Aang then took Katara away where he scolded her yet again about her careless words, and Toph got one from Sokka too. Though hers was more playful, and Katara was being spiteful she wasn't let off the hook either.
