An awkward teenager; one who is perpetually ungainly and uncertain.

"That was close," Bruce muttered, slightly out of breath as he slumped into the table he had chosen to sit at, the cafeteria bustling with people, new and old as waves of people had just entered after watching the fight break out. Both Bruce and Delilah had their bags on the seat next to them, Delilah however had her head hurried in her crossed arms.

"We wouldn't have gotten in trouble," Delilah said, voice slightly muffled. "We were only watching." She moves her head up, resting her chin on her folded arms as she stares up at Bruce from the table. "What can they get us in trouble for?" She rhetorically asked.

"They'd find a reason to," Bruce muttered with a shrug before his face fell slightly, quickly trying to cover it with a cocky grin. "I heard you got into a little incident during second period." He states, doing his best not to share a look of pity with the girl.

A groan slipped from Delilah's lips at the mention. Her head quickly got buried back into her arms. "Don't even get me started on that." She says, annoyed at the memory of what had happened earlier that day. Annoyed at what the teacher had done to deal with the situation.

Bruce hums lowly at her words, chewing quickly on his lunch. "At least the rest of your day should be pretty chill." He comments, trying to be helpful and uplift the situation. Delilah spared a glance up at him, taking in the uncertain smile that strained against his face.

"Hopefully." She grunts as she sits up properly, pulling her bag towards her so she could take the sandwich she packed for lunch out. Delilah hadn't packed much food for the day, mainly because she thought she would be too busy to eat, or would have lost her appetite by now.

As she pulled the food out of her unzipped bag, a few people stopped by the table, crowding around Bruce slightly as they all stayed on his side of the table. "Hey, Bruce. Haven't seen much of you in the holidays." A boy with ashy hair comments, grinning down at him as he rests a hand on his shoulder.

Bruce looks up at him with a smile, regarding everyone else as well before he answered the boy. "I've just been busy with baseball and family over the summer. But now I'm back, so that means we can do whatever." Bruce briefly explained, his eyes flashing down to Delilah where he sent a reassuring grin before he looked back up to the boy he was talking to.

"Better stick to your word." The boy jokes with a grin, gripping onto Bruce's shoulder tightly before he goes to leave with the rest of his friends. Delilah watches with hooded eyes as the small group leave, not much caring for who any of them were. Just that they were gone.
