The courtyard of the Red Keep is filled with carts that carry the dead bodies of the knights who are slain during the attack that night.

There are no casualties aside from the guards. No civilians or residents of the Keep were harmed. It's what they heard, the queen hasn't come out of her chamber to meet her court and bring any news to her people.

Queen Rhaenyra was helped by her good mother, Lady Cersei, and her ladies-in-waiting to look presentable in the eyes of their audience. They let her bathe, fix her hair and tried to erase any hint of what happened that night.

People gathered in the throne room. Residence of the castle to low-ranking servants are all inside. With the sound of the trumpet, their attention went to the entrance and they heard the coming footsteps.

Ser Barristan Selmy is leading the queen with the remaining four members of the Queensguards and her temporary Hand, Lord Tyrion Lannister. Ser Arthur Dayne is following them with Lady Cersei and the rest of Rhaenyra's ladies.

They made way for her grace as she walks closer to the steps of the throne. She was still in a mourning black gown and her crown lay on her golden locks. Rhaenyra hold herself together, stood straight, and put the horrors she injured that night behind her.

The queen settled on the Iron Throne. Her lavender orbs gaze at the people who are looking at her. She hold tight in the armchair while she steady her breaths and plastered a brave face.

" My court, my loyal subjects. I prayed that none of you were harmed. We will offer our sympathies to the families of the guards who fought bravely tonight to keep us safe. " Rhaenyra began as her voice became the only sound in the throne room.

" Lay down your worries because you have my word that your queen has not been touched by any harm. Just like before, those monstrous people achieve nothing. " She continued while she hid her trembling nerves and the forming tears on the side of her eyes.

" Those traitors and assassins will be found. They will face the circumstances of their treachery. Their actions did not crush the power of House Targaryen. Your queen will punish them for their crimes and for disturbing our peace. " Rhaenyra ended as the look of relief are displayed on her subject's faces.

The queen hides from the public's eyes what really happened. No one knew about it aside from a few people whom she trust the most. As the night continue to early morning, her ladies stayed with her in a new chamber. A handful of guards are standing outside the room.

Rhaenyra tried to get some sleep because she feel exhausted by all the things that happened but she can't. Every time she closes her eyes, it keeps on coming back to her. The faces, the laughs, the sounds of their breaths, and the blood.

A dispatch was sent to Prince Aeron and Prince Aegon. Informing them about the attack at the Red Keep. But the situation in Lannisport is far from stable. And the Westerlands will take a few days' flights before the prince consort can arrive back in the capital.

Prince Aegon immediately mounted Rhaegon upon learning the news. He feels worried for his sister. He is aware that she is not alone and the message said that she was not harmed. However, the feeling inside him says otherwise. The prince flies Rhaegon hard so he can quickly get back to King's Landing.

The arrival of the prince surprised them. They haven't received a word that he'll come back this so soon. Aegon hurriedly ask for Rhaenyra's location and the Handmaidens told him about the queen's new chamber.

Rhaenyra slightly jump from her spot when the door opened but her eyes widened upon seeing the figure of her brother. Aegon waited for the door to be shut before taking a step closer to her but she quickly backed away.

" Are you all right? " He asked even if his mind is confused by how she took a step back from him.

" The message said that three of the Queensguards who are guarding you were killed. But still, you are not harmed and untouched. And Aeksion... " Prince Aegon said but he cut off his words when he saw the look on his sister's face.

" I lied. We lied. We can't let anyone know. " Rhaenyra began as she tried not to stutter.

" Four of the assassins came inside my chambers. They shot Aeksion with a crossbow that is contaminated with poison. I tried to fight them but they managed to overpower me. " The queen looked down at her fingers as the memories plague her mind again.

" Tell me the whole truth, Rhaenyra. What really happened? " Aegon asked again while he gazes at her.

" Please, I can not bear it for you to look at me. You must not blame yourself. " She said to him only for her brother to move a step toward her.

" Please, don't come any closer. " Rhaenyra immediately take another step back as she wrapped her arms around her chest.

" Nyra... " He called out her name.

Rhaenyra took a few deep breaths before she meet his eyes. The tears became visible to Aegon but he can hear his own heart shattering and the anger inside him exploding when the next words came out of her mouth.
