Wishing Well

A dark well,

A dark black well stands still in an abandoned garden,

A lonely figure walks towards it,

They walk while clutching a coin,

In hands so skinny that the white of bones surface,

Eyes so hollow that the darkness of the well seems to be bright,

They approach wearing pieces of cloth,

Miserable is all that they are,

They grab the edge of the well,

And gaze down below,

All they see is,

A dried up well with a golden glow,

The glow of past deposited coins,

They open their palm to reveal a similar golden coin,

The coin of time is what it is,

Shinning bright gold as the Sun,

They throw it down and lands with a thud,

"O well, O well of wishing,

Grant my wish for everything is agonizing,

I feel nothing but pain lately,

Everyone has left, and it is all lonely,

I can't grasp the courage to look into my own image,

Fear of seeing myself in this state is what I have felt,

O well, O well of wishing,

Please listen to my plea as everything is agonizing."

The figure left in silence as they came in,

The wishing well glowed bright red after they left,

A week passed,

The Wisher was doing well,

They found a friend,

Who they never had talked to,

The Friend who helped them walk on their own,

The ear which listened to their all agonizing calls,

Being treated humane,

Been treated with value,

The skinny hands grew to normal,

The hollow eyes regained their brilliance,

Within a while, they became better than before,

The Friend who had met them in time of crisis left,

As the Friend had more people to attend,

The Friend walked towards the same well,

The same wishing well from before,

But this time, they leaped inside the well,

The golden glow was actually a cushion,

He landed on it and walked into a cave entrance,

Inside was something that resembled home,

The Friend ripped off his mask,

Revealing a gruesome face,

A human but full of scars,

He was just another person,

But with injuries of a prisoner or worse,

He tended his wounds himself and went to bed,

He dreamt of how this all began,

Before, he was a normal human too,

But people scarred him,

Made him think about his choices and life,

He kept on avoiding his problems,

Until those problems and troubles scarred him,

Scarred him into choosing to close himself off to the world,

Detach from the society that betrayed him when he needed them the most,

He found this old well,

And as he decided to jump to his death,

The little water saved him,

The water, which felt warm on his cheeks,

He chose to stay there for the time to come,

Until one day, someone arrived at his door,

Threw a coin in the hope of making everything better,

And when he saw their plead,

He could not help but remember his own tale,

And to avoid making another person go through what he had,

He decided to help them out,

With a usual routine, he woke up the next day,

Looked at the green algae in his dark cave,

He breathed a sigh,

As another figure approached the well,

Threw a coin inside,

Pleading for help,

He picked up the coin,

For he was everyones,

Wishing Well...
