Halloween event
"You need to get in here?" Steve asked reluctantly. He said it as if he hadn't agreed to meet you outside Family video, picked up some tools to break into an abandoned house, and then drove you there.
"Yes. I told you I saw something in here." You answered. He'd asked you that same question so many times that you decided you would ignore him the next time he said it.
"Ok see. You keep saying you saw something and you can't tell me exactly what it was that you saw which worries me. Am I going to get eaten by something if I go in there?" He asked as he started to fiddle with the board over the door.
"How should I know?" You asked and he stopped, looking at you with a hand on his hip as he raised an eyebrow.
"Because you had a vision and are now demanding I help you break into this place." He reminded you.
"Well, the last vision I had was very helpful. And the one before that!" You insisted. Steve scoffed and shook his head as he turned back to the door.
"How was what you did helpful? Now me and Robin have to work with Billy Hargrove for half our shifts." Steve grumbled.
"Um. I saved Billy and Heather. Also, I'm the one that helped close the gate and stopped Hop from getting zapped with that whizzy whirly thing." You reminded him.
"Ok. All you did was run out in front of his car at the right time after you claimed to have a dream about a big flesh monster and then you hid in a box in that awful lab under the mall." Steve criticized and finally pulled the wood off the door. He hesitated as he pushed it open and stared into the dark. He'd forgotten his torch and very much wished that Dustin would show up with his spare.
"Um I'll have you know that my vision required me to strategically run out into the right bit of the road to make sure that he didn't run me over. Also, I had to trick that nice little Russian guy into putting me in a box so I could distract Hop. So there." You smiled and went to step inside but Steve grabbed your arm.
"Are you sure that you want to go in there? You claim to have about five visions a day and only two have ever worked out and that was sheer luck." Steve said as he looked from you into the darkness of the house.
"I have to go in. Something important is in here." You insisted firmly and stepped into the house.
"Fine." Steve said quietly as he followed you in. "Just to be clear. If you start levitating. I leave."
There was quiet for a long moment. An uncomfortable quiet as you looked around. Steve watched you walk around a room for a few moments before picking up a heavy candlestick from an abandoned sideboard and smacking it against a wall.
"What're you doing!" Steve asked. He gasped and then yelped when something human-shaped fell out of the wall. He hurried to pull you back.
"Well. At least I didn't levitate." You said quietly to him.
"We should go down the street and call Hopper." Steve said as you both clung to each other. A disgusting smell had begun to fill the room. You both agreed and slowly, together backed out of the room. It took about five minutes to reach the phone and you put the loose change that Steve handed you into the slot with shaking hands.
"Hello?" El said as she picked up.
"Is Hopper there? It's (Y/N)." You mumbled. She said he was and you heard talking in the background. Hopper took the phone and you filled him in. They were there ten minutes later. He pulled up with Joyce in the car and blocked the pavement.
You hurried to show them the wall and the body but when you got there it was gone.
"It was right here. I swear it was!" You insisted. You looked over at them both. Hopper began to look around while Joyce beckoned you over.
"It was here. I saw it too. Smelled awful. But I kept an eye on the house when we called and we sat on the front step to wait for you. No way that anyone got in or out." Steve insisted. He sounded defensive of anyone that might doubt you.
"They didn't need to go through the front. There's a tunnel." Hopper said as he crouched down and stared into the hole you made. "You two should get out of here. I'll say there was a strange smell so I opened it up to check. Joyce, do you think you could go into the records office and find who owned the house before it was boarded up?" Hopper looked at Joyce who nodded and tugged you from the building as if the wall might try to swallow you whole if she let go. Steve was hesitant and glanced at you.
"I'll stay. Just in case there's someone else here." Steve said to you and you nodded. Hopper groaned and rolled his eyes, muttering something that sounded like teenagers before turning back to the room in front of him.
"You'll tell me if you see anything right?" Joyce asked. She'd taken Hopper's keys and started to drive towards the library.
"Yes... Do you think they'll be ok?" You asked. She nodded and reached over to squeeze your hand.
"I'm sure they will be." She said and tried to smile reassuringly.
