We go to the armed police holding up a part of the outskirts.
*Short burst of gunfire.*
They are holding off one of the longest roads, the busiest parts of town, because it has rows either side of restaurants and clubs. Two police cars with four armed police stand; they have all four streets covered. All four are wearing full black armed police uniforms from the helmet to the boots, and they are most probably wearing armed police underwear with socks. Each has an assault rifle, the G36, and a Glock 17 in a holster around their legs. There is also two HK417; one is on the left of cop cars, each of the cop cars blocking the four roads. A police car drives from behind them, parking up beside The church of Our Lady, also the English Martyrs. A police officer gets out, walking over to an armed officer that is on one knee, with the other HK417, that's resting on the bonnet of his cop car, silencer attached, his G36 resting on the floor to his right.
The police officer stands beside the armed officer, saying, "The streets look clear from Zs, just drunken teenagers, considering it is two in the morning."
The armed officer says, "Good, can't let this problem overspill; all we have to do is hold this position until the morning."
A helicopter is flying over behind with a bright spotlight on, sweeping all of the outskirts.
The police officer with a stab-proofed vest says, "I am going to check out the infected zone; there could be survivors."
Before anyone can say another word, the armed officer starts shooting. Looking down the scope to an outer circle, to a middle circle with a dot in the middle, that is moving up from a bloodied once white shirted torso to a rotting male face Z that is slowly approaching because of a broken leg, a bullet rips through the z's head.
*Reloading*
Moving to a quicker approaching Z. The other policeman spots something or someone moving to the side of them, a z slowly emerging from the smashed-out Chinese restaurant window. He takes the pistol from his leg holster after putting a bullet between the z's eyes, blood, and brain explode out from the back, falling onto a once pristine draping white table cloth.
George is walking down the street alongside the other three; all are staying vigilant, checking in parked or crashed cars for anyone that isn't a Z yet. They come across the occasional body on the ground or seat, that is when they check to see if there is life, but the Z in them comes out, and they have to quickly, along with quietly, kill them.
George says, "Thanks to whoever invented lampposts; without them, we are fucked, especially if you don't have a torch to hand."
Shane responds, "Most people have torches on their phones now, bud, but true, they are a Godsend of an invention."
George says, "We should go to the sports shop first; we can get more weapons."
They all agree while walking down the street towards the sports shop.
Tony, speaking in his Italian accent, says, "This is all we need."
Flakes of snow start falling heavily from the sky.
Shane responds, "I hope it doesn't settle or carry on for too long; we won't be able to see properly, mate."
They all stop at the sports shop; George slowly opens the door to the eerie dark building.
All four enter the sports shop; outlines of rackets on the wall, football shirts on clothes rails, and football, cricket, and tennis equipment are on display for sale throughout the store.
