Set in the summer before the events of the philosopher's stone.

Rain

I was rudely awake by my best friend Lawrence happily sneaking into my room. Still dressed in his loose striped white and blue PJs.

But I called him Lockie for short because he loved collecting keys as hobby and so we could hide in our secret den away for all the grown ups.

Lockie jumped up on my bed excited. It was too early in the morning to have this among of bubbled energy.

But Lockie always did specially he when something unexpected was gonna happen at Wool's Orphanage.

"Loc what's going on?" I asked rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. He stood at the end of the bed narrowing his eyes, arms crossed dumbfounded.

"Merlin's beard! Rain, have you actually forgotten what today is!?"

Rubbing out of my eyes one last time, marking sure I was fully wide awake. I Ranked my brain for a moment, sitting up in bed and it finally dawned on me.

"It's Adoption day!" Lockie and I's celebration was soon interpreted by a familiar French woman's stern disembodied voice.

"What are you two doing up here? breakfast will be served soon" Lockie smiled. "That's why I came to fetch him, Cleo"

I glanced over at him and he winked at me, knowing that he worked his charm over Miss Cleo.

But she was too clever and saw through it all. "Both of you, get bathed, get dressed and be downstairs for breakfast on time ,I am clear"

Loc and I chorused. "Yes, Miss Cleo" The wavy haired brunette woman curved a smell smile on her face as she left my room. "Good and don't be late. Because today is a very important day boys"

We made sure Cleo was gone to continue our celebration dancing like crazy.

Breakfast soon arrived and I was dressed up in my favorite lavender coloured suit added with a bow tie to match, a white shirt and polished black shoes.

Loc and I had our daily dose of porridge for the day and buttered bread on the slide in the canteen for Breakfast.

"Why do you like look a dummy!" Lockie chuckled chewing down on his piece of bread.

I choose to remain tight lipped at first. But afterwards I chose to get one back at Loc.

"Well at least I don't look like a magician" I smirked broadly flashing my eyelashes. Lockie stared down at his attire then looked towards me.

"Well Rainy I suppose you're right!" He admitted straighten his Ruby red bow tie.

Lockie's outfit consist of a top hat, Ruby red waistcoat to match his tie, black shoes, trousers, coat, a white shirt and cape to finish it off.

All of which did indeed make him look like a Magician.

Keira wandered over to our table, with her porridge and bread on a plate. Taking her seat right next to Lockie."What are you two talking about?"

Lockie scoffed. "Oh nothing" Keria fist pumps him in the arm. "Hey what was that for? Little sis!" Lockie snapped in defence.

Keria grinned broadly admitting with a sarcastic tone in her voice. Before she slipped a spoon full of her porridge out of the bowl. "Oh nothing. I just felt like it!"

Lockie was about to pour his bowl of porridge onto his sister's nicely done plaited hair and over her big fluffy pink ball grown, and ballet shoes.

I couldn't stand in the way and let that happen. So I used my mind to make the bowl of porridge slip onto Lockie instead.

The whole canteen full of kids all around us erupted into fits of laughter including Keria. While I just sit in awe after what happened.

Embarrassed by all of the chaos Lockie runs out of the canteen covered in cold porridge as the kids begin to point and laugh at him running away.

Many of the caretakers and kitchen stuff had to calm them down.

The time was nearly twelve. Lockie had fully recovered from the porridge incident from earlier.

But he was sad that had to change out of his magician outfit, more than having cold porridge poured on him.

I watched as more and more adults arrive at Howl's main entrance.

Only one or two spoke to me and most of them just thought I was invisible to them.

But I didn't understand why.

Even their children were scared of me.

But all the kids I knew at Howl's liked me.

So.

Why.

Didn't.

They?

Hearing the bell loudly chime on the clock knocked me out of my train of thought and sleeping state.

I rubbed my eyes laying on the reception bench. Cleo sat beside me and smiled.

"Hi sleepyhead" I covered my hand over to yawn sitting up. "Hi Miss Cleo" I became panicked and asked her. 'What time is it?" Miss Cleo showed in her sadness replying.

'It's six o clock, Rain. I'm sorry but Adoption day is ov.." Miss Cleo's words were cut off by mysterious a visitor and behind her stood two girls wearing flowery summer dresses and jelly shoes.

One around a year older than the then the other one.

The oldest girl was blonde, slim, hazel eyed and an inch taller.

The youngest girl was blonde, chubby, blue eyed and shorter.

"I'm so sorry, I'm late" the woman spoke in a American accent and a big bright smile.

She wore sunglasses, a white blouse, thin cardigan, jeans and high heels.

She looked like one of those big Hollywood star from a movie I've seen.

"I would've been here a lot earlier" the woman had her eyes fixed firmly on the girls stood beside her.

She flipped her long brunette hair to the side and soften her tone towards the two small children."We got struck in traffic"

Miss Cleo cautiously steps towards her at the main entrance as I cautiously followed strolling forward in the same direction.

"What is your name madame?"

"My name is Livia St Mount" Livia rejoiced removing her sunglasses, tusking them in front of her blouse.

Miss Cleo sunken to her knees to greet the two small children. I stood hiding behind the wavily haired brunette nervously biting on my nails.

Livia closely observed my features. If she had known me from somewhere.

She.

Had.

Been.

Before.

"And what are you're names?" Miss Cleo asked.

Both girls looked up at Livia and she nodded to give her approval.

The older child marvelled. "I'm Alice!"

The youngest child cheered. "And I'm Annie!"

"Don't be shy now introduce yourself?" Miss Cleo calmly requested resting her hand on my shoulder for reassurance.

Because.

She.

Knew.

I.

Could

Act.

Shy.

Around.

New.

People.

"I'm Rain" I proudly announced coming out of my shyness. Finding myself in a new form of confidence.

"Well" Livia smiled politely sinking herself below to my level. "It's very nice to meet you Rain"
