Charlotte had been patched up by the paramedics present on the scene buther clothes didn‟t show it. She had come into the interrogation room at precisely8 am the next day carrying a single but thick file. The French assassin named,Claude Dubois, also known as "le renard", was sitting opposite to her, chainedto the metal table. His face was still stony, expressionless and showing no signsof life.

Agent McCormack and Charlotte‟s team, including Agent Moreau werewatching the interrogation from the other side of the mirror.

"So, you are Mr. Claude Dubois. Am I correct?" Charlotte was reading from thefile she had brought with her.Dubois nodded to which Charlotte said, "Please speak clearly into themicrophone. I‟m repeating. Are you Mr. Claude Dubois?"

"Yes." The killer said in the microphone.

"Did you kill Samara Smith and Robert Stevens on orders from the late AgentLambert?"

"Yes I did."

"Well this has turned out to be easier than I thought." She whispered to herself."You are confessing to the murders?"

"Yes I am."

"Why did Lambert want you to kill them and all these people in the list that wefound in Lambert‟s apartment?"

"Lambert said that these people had testified against his brother, DaveJonathan. That because of them his brother had to die."

Charlotte looked up from the file. "I‟m sorry. Did you say Dave Jonathan?"

"Yes I did."

"The drug lord Dave Jonathan was Agent Lambert‟s brother? And he told youthis himself?"

"I believe so. He did."

"Alright." At that moment Agent McCormack came in."Mr. Dubois do you also confess to the murder of the Bensons?" the older agentquestioned and sat beside Charlotte who was shocked that this question hadcome from her senior, who had told her to stay professional.

Dubois gave a crimson smile in Charlotte‟s direction and said, "yes I do."

Charlotte was fighting the urge to leap on the maniac who hadmercilessly killed her parents and the younger brother, all of whom she had lovedso dearly.

"Did Lambert order you to kill them?" this question came from Charlotte.

"I‟m sorry. I don‟t understand. Which "them" are you talking about?" Duboisgave that same smile again.

"That‟s enough Dubois. You know who she is talking about. Answer her."

"Ok, ok. Be patient old man. Yes. Lambert ordered me to kill the Bensons."

"Why?"

"Because your guys were going to replace Lambert with that old NYPD cop.Lambert was jealous and told me to eliminate the competition. After all that‟swhere my career started."

"You were to kill Detective Benson only?"

"Yes."

"Then why did you kill the whole family."

"I don‟t like witnesses. Plus I wanted to spread word that I was the new andonly assassin in this city and that whoever comes in my path will have to bidtheir lives farewell."

The killer then leaned in and addressed Charlotte. "It‟s sadthat you were not there, little Cherry. That‟s what your brother called you right? It would‟ve been fun killing you and I wouldn‟t be here right now. Your fatherpassed his keen senses and investigative talents to you. You know, yourmother...."
