This genuine warmth, please stay forever."

Hwang Min-ah had a passion for shopping. Hwang Areum did not.
She disliked it. Not the deed itself, but the time consumed and the amount of indecisiveness diplayed by her mother. And not complete, blatant hate (because for Areum, shopping is honestly therapeutic when done for stationary and books), but just the right amount of reluctance for someone who was dragged along from store to store for hours on end and played doll for their enthusiastic mother.
Shopping with her mother was a difficult affair.
Areum let out an audible sigh, not even bothering to hide her exasperation after changing into her twelfth meet-and-greet-Mr. Kim's-sons ensemble for the impromptu fashion show that Ms. Hwang held in front of the trial rooms of 'Ms. Right'.
She'd agreed to the meet-up, since it was high time. The way Mr. Kim sang praises of his kids had made her curious to meet them. Their parents had been very accomodating for their children and Areum appreciated it very much. Three years was a long time and she knew that. But she also felt it was justified, not meeting the boys sooner, given that they, too, were settling into the idea of their father being in a relationship. And there were seven of them.
They had decided to meet up at a high-end restaurant named Singularity. Singularity was a popular fine dining establishment that was located at the heart of Whalien52 city square, right beside Reflection Cinema Hall. While the restaurant did not demand a particular dress-code per say, wearing anything but business casual to a place so expensive felt all sorts of wrong. This prompted for a quick trip to the shopping mall, Daydream, to select a dress for the meet-up. They'd gone straight to a store named 'Miss Right' and started browsing through various options on the garment display stand.
Ms. Hwang took mere minutes to pick a beautiful midnight blue dress that reached the middle of her calves and had a square neck. It had embossed details on its hems. The dress fit her well and the square neck complimented Ms. Hwang's face shape. The saleswoman that had been assisting them was visibly swooning over the woman. Areum noticed and couldn't help the smug look on her face. Her mother was pretty and deserved all the swooning over.
In Areum's case, however, no outfit seemed to satisfy mother dearest. "Not many of these do justice to your beauty, my child," she'd say. Some of the outfits were simply disqualified at the first look but most had to be tried on by Areum. As soon as she exited the trial room, Ms. Hwang would either make a face of dissatisfaction or squeal loud enough to gather looks from employees and other customers. The saleswoman with them looked thoroughly amused, much to the girl's embarrassment.
The final choice had come down to three options that were completely different but all beautiful in their own ways. The older of the two wanted to get all three, something her daughter vehemently protested against. "But it'd look so cute-""-It's expensive and unnecessary, Mom. We're here for one dress!"
At last, the victory went to a cute piece of mauve-colored finery. It was an umbrella-sleeved outfit that reached her knees and had delicate flowers on its belt area.
The dinner was scheduled for seven in the evening. It was already five-thirty when they finished shopping and pulled into the drive way of their home. Both women took one look at the giant analog clock that hung on the wall opposite to the entry door and made a mad dash towards their respective rooms.
