Dontfreakoutdontfreakout-ok calm.

Those were Areum's last thoughts before they entered the dining room and her mind blanked. Instantly, her gaze locked on to her mother, sitting on a round dining table surrounded by seven boys.

One of them was standing behind Min-ah's chair and was leaning forward slightly. From her point of view, only his back was visible to her. He was wearing a blazer over tight denims and had his hair dyed light blonde with the original brown of his locks peeking out. Distantly, she noted that most of them had their hair dyed in different colours. For now though, her first concern was how familiar a few of them looked.

Time for Brain Areum™️ to log back in.

Oh. Oh.

Weird how after recognizing the boys her first thought was, 'So they really are related.' That is, to confirm the rumors going around campus. Since Bangtan was popular, they did, as a result of their popularity, have a ton of rumors going around about them.

Areum would forever deny the zealous enthusiasm with which she read the Campus Rumor Mill, a blog dedicated solely to its name. Expectedly, posts about the popular seven recieved the most attention, right after the posts about teacher scandals. She knew better than to believe those blogs, but couldn't help reading it regularly, all because the posts had the juiciest gossips.

Wait- Bangtan was there- sitting with her mother- where Mr. Kim's sons were supposed to be-Bangtan are Mr. Kim's sons- Mr. Kim is Bangtan's father?!

How in the world-What the FUCK?

Areum made sure her thoughts of existential crisis did not show on her face.

They approached the table and Areum could feel the palms of her hands go sweaty and just wished that the gentleman holding her hand like a princess would not notice it. That would be very awkward.

Mr. Kim led her towards the table and she saw two seats empty- one on her mother's left and one opposite to her. The seat to the right to her mother was occupied by Taehyung, one among the Bangtan three that went to high school. To her left was an empty seat. Next to the empty seat sat Namjoon.

Maybe he did not intimidate her as much because she was used to his presence from all of their study sessions and the weekly Student Council meetings. Well he did, but not as much as Taehyung and Yoongi. Why was a highschooler so scary? She just knew she welcomed the familiar presence better than the not so familiar ones.

There was another seat empty, this one sitting innocently between Hoseok and Yoongi and directly opposite to Ms. Hwang's. Her choice was obvious.

Areum immediately went to the seat beside her mother.  To her surprise Namjoon was already standing and pulling the back of plush-looking turquoise chair in a gentlemanly manner. She looked up at his face and was graced with a barely noticeable smile.

To say that Areum was shocked would be an understatement. She was dumbfounded, startled, stunned and stupefied.

In all those months of being unofficial study partners, Namjoon had never said a word to her other than 'Good Morning' and 'See you at the meeting'. At first, both the mentioned phrases were replies to Areum's politeness. It slowly transitioned to one day Namjoon himself sitting down with a 'Good Morning, Areum-ssi.' And hadn't that startled her? But, even with the increased familiarity, Areum never tried small talk.
