You hear of Regulus's death from Tom. He says he drowned.

Your brother never did know how to swim.

Halloween, 1981

You had refused to talk to Tom since Snape informed him of the prophecy.

You had always known you didn't like Severus for a reason; perhaps this was it. The big reason.

You wanted to kill him. And you probably could; Tom would not care if you did.

Snape had begged Tom to allow Lily to live.

How disgusting.

Ah yes, kill the baby and the father but allow the mother to live in sadness and grief over her dead child and husband. What a solution!

Another thing causing you distress is your darling younger brother. Your darling stupid younger brother. He had decided to take Tom's horcrux and run away with it to destroy it. Tom has people looking for him now; saying to bring him back alive. You know he's only allowing him to be alive for you.

Perhaps that might be considered sweet in a way. You don't fully consider it so.

Peter Pettigrew had join your side a year ago. He gave the location of Lily and James to Voldemort a few days ago. You had silently begged him not to, but he had refused to look at you the entirety of the conversation. Tom had made you leave in the midst of it; figuring you were too "emotionally involved" to the situation.

Perhaps you could stop it? The killed of your friends. Knock them out and kill the kid, sure. They can have a new one; perhaps a cruel situation, but it would keep them alive.

"Peter." You walk towards him.

He perks up, and turns towards you. His face falls, "I'm sorry." He whispers.

That's his first response. Your heart sinks a bit.

"Pete where are they staying? We can go there now. We can save them. Peter they're our friends we have to save them."

"We can't, y/n... it's too late."

"No it's not. It's not- we have to try Pete. Please. You don't even have to come with me I can go alone, I-"

"Okay."

"Okay?"

"Okay." He says again. "I'll give you their location and I'll come with you."

"Let's go, then."

He was right. It was too late.

The first thing you see when you walk in is James's dead body. The second is Lily's. And then you hear crying. And perhaps Tom hasn't killed Harry yet.

You hurry into the room and yet there's no one to be found except the child.

Tom is gone, Harry sits there with a lightning shaped scar.

"What's going on? Peter what's going on!?"

And there's your other brother.

"I-I don't know- I don't-" Peter stops talking as you hear footsteps running up the stairs.

Sirius runs into the room.

"Y/n what's going on?" His voice is quiet, broken. He's lost his best friend.
