"Are you sure you're not going to join any sports teams?" Alexandra asked again as they walked towards the parking lot, her hands letting go of his arm. Strangely, he felt as if his hands were lonely.
Watching as she tore open the wrapper of the KitKat and took a bite out of it, Xander nodded. "...I can finish up a lot of work in the time it takes to play them. And I'm not that good at them except like chess."
She paused in her steps and let out a smile. He knew exactly what that meant. "I get it." she nodded, "As long as it's not a requirement, I ditch sports too." Then she glanced down at her vibrating phone. Xander couldn't help himself from taking a peek. It was their Math teacher, Ryans.
Alexandra almost groaned out loud, throwing her head back and furrowing her eyebrows. Her lips were drawn in a half pout as she glared at the sky as if it had to do everything with her problems. It was an amusing sight to see...and a cute one too.
As soon as that thought crossed his mind, Xander almost stopped in his steps.
'What the fuck?! Since when?'
He sneaked another glance at her, finding her furiously typing away on her phone with that pout replaced with a scowl. He suddenly felt if this was the only scene he could see for the rest of his life, it wouldn't be bad at all.
He touched her fingertips ever so gently, as if they were the fragile wings of a butterfly, gently trailing up until their palms rested against each other's. "Shall we escape?"
The surprise in her eyes was replaced with a sparkle of mischief. She flashed him a grin and he could've swore something inside him melted. "Yes."
He pulled her along as he broke out in a run. The breeze brushed past his ruffled hair, dancing along those locks and then weaving through her hair. It carried along with it her soft laughter, and he realized...he was grinning too.
They stopped in front of a black motorcycle parked outside the school gates.
'Just when I thought he couldn't get any cooler.' Alexandra thought as Xander took the helmet that had a small logo of a Pegasus at the side. It was so small she barely recognized it. Alexandra watched him as he approached her with a gentle look in his eyes and then placed the helmet on her head and strapped the buckle. His fingers barely grazed past her chin, their trail leaving behind a heat that rushed to her cheeks.
He tried not to stare as she sat behind him, her hand gripping his shoulder reluctantly. After she was comfortable, she removed her hand.
"Hold on?" Xander quirked up his brow, feeling the heat from her body. Why was this so different from when others sat behind him?
She smirked. "I'm actually really used to these kinds of rides. So, it's fine really."
No, it wasn't. She wanted to hold onto him for some strange reason.
Disappointment washed over his heart. He didn't have the time to mull over it as the words flowed out of his mouth on their own accord. "Do you know how to ride one?" He asked instead, starting the bike.
Alexandra shook her head. "I wish. Dad never had the time to teach me." This was true. 'You teach me then.' she thought, and her unheard voice was responded to.
He felt suddenly hopeful. "Want me to teach you?"
"Yes please."
She didn't hold on to him once and that disappointed him more than he thought. He narrowed his eyes, seeing the speed breaker. Smirking, he picked up the pace and slowed it suddenly before they crossed it. As expected, she held his shoulder.
