At the age of twelve, Seraphina Irons' world turned upside down. Four years later, she has settled, but is still riddled with anxiety. And when her family moves across the country, it feels as though her life will fall apart all over again. New places, new faces, new routine; everything that makes Seraphina's nerves tremble.
Going from a small town in West Virginia, where everyone knows everyone, to a city as large as LA, she thinks that she can leave all the drama behind. But Seraphina could not be more wrong. In a valley swept by the leg of karate, the last thing she will be feeling anytime soon is calm.

I do not own any of the characters or plot, bar Seraphina Irons and her family.
Any resemblance between characters and events occurring in this story and those existing in the real world is completely coincidental.
I am from England and, even after research, I still don't fully understand the American high school education system - subject choices, AP subjects, etc. - so please forgive any mistakes that I make in this story.
I am also fully aware that not everyone who lives in the southern states owns a truck or loves country music. However, because my love of these two things makes up half of my personality, I wanted to write a character that shares that love.
With regards to the way that I write the Irons family's English dialogue, I investigated the different accents of the southern states, narrowed it down to West Virginia, and did the same with regional accents until I found one that sounded exactly what I was looking for. I do not pretend to know anything about the culture in Fayetteville, West Virginia above the information that I found on the internet. The experiences that shaped Seraphina are personal to her. I do, however, have Italian family, so have based their activities on the experiences that I grew up with.
