Amnesia: 5 Seconds of Summer
~Luke~
Six months
Today was the six month anniversary of your break up with Luke. You spoke occasionally, but nothing ever went farther than a few texts. You missed him, no, you cried yourself to sleep because you missed him so much.
He said it was his work, being apart of a band was putting major strain on him and your relationship, and in an attempt to spare both of your feelings, you agreed to call it quits.
In the middle of the night, while you're up thinking of him, the way it felt to kiss him and hold him close, your phone lights up. You see his name, and it makes your stomach flip.
It's a link, a link to a YouTube video. You open it and a music video for their new song "Amnesia" pops up.
He's just promoting, he probably sent this to everyone in his contacts you think to yourself.
But you watch it anyway, the sadness on his face when he sings, the longing in his eyes, and the way he can only look at you through the computer for a few seconds without turning away. It could only mean one thing...
He still loves you.
You fumble to exit out of one app and dial his number which burns in your memory.
"Hello?" Luke's voice is full of question.
"Luke?" Your voice cracks as you try to hold back tears.
"Y/N?"
You let out a tiny laugh and he does the same,
"Luke, I listened to the song," you say with a small smile on your lips, "it's beautiful."
"Thanks, but listen-"
"I love you, Luke." you blurt. You hear him breathing on the line, but he doesn't say anything. The tears are falling down your face now.
You think it's over, you want to hang up and forget...go to sleep...
I wish that I could wake up with amnesia...
And forget about these stupid little things"Can you meet me at the park? In, like, five minutes?" he says.
The park...
That's where you had your first date. That date would lead to a year of others, then, the six months of silence.
"Y-yeah, I'll see you then."
You wipe the tears from your eyes and quickly throw on clothes that make you look better. You line your eyes with eyeliner and lather you eyelashes with mascara. You bolt out the door and sprint to the park down the street.
Luke isn't there. You sit on a swing, letting your feet dangle.
Thoughts bounce around your head like angry bees,
He's probably moved on, why would he stay hung up on you like you are him?
You see someone sprinting from the other direction. They slow down as they get to the park, looking around in a desperate attempt.
Your heart stops, you can't breath.
He actually came.
"Luke," you whisper into the dark. His silhouette turns around in the full moon light.
He whips his head towards you, and starts running towards you. You jump off of your swing and do the same, you're running towards him.
He crashed into you, wrapping his muscular arms around your waist. Your arms squeeze his neck, not enough to hurt him, but enough so you are close to him.
You both stand there, in the moonlight, glad to be in each other's presence.
"I had to tell you in person," he whispered softly into your ear.
You pull back so you can look into the eyes you used to get lost in.
"I love you too."
Without another word, you press your lips to his, his lip ring still feeling cold. The cool night air sends a shiver down your spine as he breaks away, your foreheads touching. Memories rush through your head of kisses before, none being as sweet as this one.
And a new memory was added to a collection of others, never to be taken away.
I thought about our last kiss, how it felt, the way you tasted
Sometime I start to wonder was it just a lie?
If what we had was real, how could you be fine?
'Cause I'm not fine at all...
