Chapter 20: A Thousand Times

BACK TO THAT NIGHT

I searched his eyes as he smiled at me, I had been waiting for this moment for three weeks. I had only painted my nails nude or gotten a French tip. I had gotten dressed up any time we went to dinner, and up until two weeks ago, I had full hope he was proposing to me.

We got back from another dinner date, and I couldn't help the disappointment that I felt. I sat in the bed and took off my heels massaging my feet.

"Hey, you okay Mags?" Harry said kneeling in front of me.

"Yeah, just tired." I smiled softly.

"You sure?" He said searching my eyes.

"Yeah baby." I smiled small. What else was I supposed to say to him. I didn't want to admit I had gotten my hopes up again, thinking he would propose today. I didn't want to admit I gave up today. I didn't expect him to do it anymore.

"Maggie, you're lying to me."

I swallowed, "You're going to make fun of me."

"Baby, I wouldn't. Not if it's upsetting you." He said moving onto the bed sitting next to me.

"I just...for the past couple times we've gone out, I just. Mmm, never mind." I said turning slightly away from him.

"Darling. Look at me. You what honey?" He turned my face softly towards him and I sighed looking down.

"I thought you were going to propose. Especially tonight. I'm just, I'm being dramatic it's fine." I said starting to get up to change. He pulled me back down softly into his lap.

"Hey. Hey look at me." He said softly and I looked up at him.

"You aren't being dramatic. I want to marry you Maggie, I do with everything in me. Just let it happen when it's going to happen, okay? I don't need you getting all worked up. Trust me, I'll make sure it's perfect. Just let it happen okay?"

I nodded softly, "But Harry."

"Yeah baby?" He said softly, tracing my cheek with his finger.

"You do want to ask right?" I said, feeling small.

"Honey, more than anything." He smiled, holding my jaw softly and pulling me in for a kiss.

"Darling." He smiled and swallowed hard, "Uh, I wow." He chuckled and I laughed softly.

"Harry Styles, at a loss of words. Didn't think it was possible." I giggled softly and he squeezed my hands in his.

"Maggie, stop." He blushed and I chuckled.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry." I let go of one of his hands, panting away tears with my finger.

"Darling, I've been planning this. For a while now. Wanting it all to be perfect for you. If anyone would of told me, that the girl I gave my pen to two years ago would be the woman of my dreams, I would of said they were crazy. But there she was, carrying around a binder, and pen and soon my heart everywhere she went." He stopped and wiped his eye, swallowing hard, "Margarita Alicia Santiago I am so in love with you. I don't know how to be without you anymore. How to breathe, how to function. You are my lifeline. So therefore, I cannot fathom being without you. There is no life with out you Maggie. I can't wait to start a life with you. To bring a life into this world. Tell them how they have a sister who always is watching over them. Maggie, I promise to always love you. Always. So, with that."

He let go of my hands and reached into his suit jacket pocket. I couldn't stop the tears that came. My hand over my heart, as I watched him get down on one knee. I felt like everything flashed before me. The first meeting, the pen, the tic tac toe game, Daylily. Everything was spinning around me.

He opened up the ring box, and inside was the most perfect ring. Exactly what I wanted. Simple, band, simple round cut, small diamonds around the band.

"Margarita, will you do my the greatest honor of marrying me?"

We were both in tears at this point, I nodded before the words could escape me lips, "Yes Harry, a thousand times over yes." I bent down and kissed him and he got up as I did.

I watched as he slipped the ring on my finger and I cried more, "It's perfect Harry. You're perfect. This. Everything. God, I love you."

I quickly wrapped my hands around his neck and we kissed deeply.

A thousand times, yes.
