Bucky's POV

Riley gazed towards the television, her face turned a shade paler, and the smile on her face was gone. "The town frozen in time" I heard the news reporter say. Could this have something to do with Riley? She quickly lunges towards the remote, and turns off the television. "Sounds horrible. A whole town, just frozen" She mumbles, looking down at the ground. "Riley. Talk. What happened?" I say, tilting her chin up, so I can look at her. "I can't." She states. "Bullshit." I say raising my voice. "If I tell you. You'll think I'm some sort of monster. I can't tell you." She exclaims, the emotion in her voice rising. "Riley. I will never turn my back on you. I promise. Just please, tell me." I state trying to convince her. Even though I've only known her for less than a day, I just feel the urge to try and protect her. She's like my little sister I guess. She seems to be having a mental battle with herself before she sighs, obviously giving in to my request. "It was me. I froze them." She whispers, clearly disappointed with herself. "How?" I question, keeping my voice quiet. "After my mother stabbed me, something came over me, and it just happened. I didn't know how to change what I had done, so I ran. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I don't know how to fix it!" She exclaims starting to get hysterical. I quickly wrap my arms around her, and she sobs into my chest.

So Riley has the ability to stop time. Surely there must be a way to restart it again. Although I'm sure she's not going to risk doing it again. Poor Riley, I'm sure the guilt is eating away at her. I know how it feels, to have injured perfectly innocent people. I didn't even realise what was happening at the time, it was just a blur.

After a while, Riley had calmed down. "Sorry about your shirt."she mumbled her voice hoarse from the sudden outburst. "It's fine. Just know that I'm not judging you. We all make mistakes. Let's just move on for it. You can stay here if you want." I say, trying to comfort her. She steps backwards and nods, "that would be great. Thank you so much." She replies with a smile.
"Great! So why don't we go to town for a bit?" I ask, hoping to cheer her up a bit. She grins, I'll take that as a yes then.

Riley and I had begun the short walk to the town centre. "I just need to get a few things. Here's 20 dollars. Go crazy. I'll see you back here in half an hour." I state, handing her the money. "Yes Dad." She replies sarcastically, before walking off in the other direction.

Half an hour later...
"Where the hell is she?" I mumble to myself, as I impatiently wait at the meeting point. Right, I'm just gonna go find her. As I walk in the direction that she did half an hour ago, I start to hear an argument, just outside the local bar. That better not be Riley or I swear to god... "Get offa me! Ya big douchebag!" I hear Riley shout. Oh fuck. I drop the bags I am currently carrying, and sprint towards the commotion. I find Riley, who looks drunk off her ass, and 4 horny looking weirdos. "Leave her alone." I shout, those 3 words echoing around the street. They then begin to move towards me, clearly annoyed with my interference. They all attack me at the same time, leaving me at a disadvantage. Riley noticed this, and lunged at the person nearest to her. "Don't hurt him!" She slurs in her drunken form. Ok, we need to have a talk about her drinking habits when we get home. I quickly knock out one of the guys, but the fight quickly escalates and knifes are added into the mix. Riley looks at them in shock, before putting her hands out in defence. All of the men suddenly stop. They seem to be frozen. Oh no, she didn't did she? Riley looks at me her eyes wide with fear. Then a group of police appear at the sight. Oh great this just got better.

"Miss, what the heck did you just do." The officer shouts, pointing his gun at her. "I don't knoww! Hello there Mr police dude" she says, swaying from side to side. "Are you drunk?! Right both of you are under arrest." He exclaims. Great. Thanks Riley.

1 hour later...
Riley and I are currently in a cell. I'm lying down on the bed, and Riley is puking her guts out. "It's your own fault you know. You're underage." I mumble, still annoyed at the situation she put us in.

"Yes. I believe we've discovered the criminal that froze the town. She's here. Pick her up whenever." She police officer says on the phone. "Over my dead body!" I exclaim. How dare they call her a criminal! The police officer rolls at his eyes at me, then walks away. Helpful.

Riley appears to have stopped throwing up. Now she's just collapsed against the wall. "You ok kid?" I ask, crouching down next to her. "Just peachy Bucky." She replies sarcastically. She stands up and collapses on the bed. Great now where am I supposed to sit. The floor seems to be the only option. Around 20 minutes later, 6 people appeared in the police station. One of them looks distinctly familiar. "Bucky?" He questions. Unsure of my response. I don't reply. "Is this the girl?" A man with white/silver hair asks the officer. "Yup that's her. Found her blind drunk, spent the last hour puking her guts out." He explains, looking down on us. Riley then sits up, and wakes at the herd of people. "Who the hell are you?" She asks, clearly confused at the situation. The blonde dude who said my name introduces everyone, and we realise that the people standing before us are actually the avengers. Well shit. "Is that the winter soldier?" The black widow mumbles, looking at me wearily. I bite my lip nervously, I may have forgotten to mention this to Riley.

"Okay. You guys are coming with us." Iron man states, before handing a pair of weird looking handcuffs to Quicksilver. Moments later, Riley and I were trapped.
I turn my head towards Riley, who looks scared shitless. "You touch her, you die." I warn the avengers. They all nod in understanding, as the lead us towards a helicarrier, and away from the life I'd grown to like.
