Ok, so get this. Katniss is Natalie Prior and Newt's mom. Let me explain.
In the Hunger games epilogue it says she and Peeta have two children, the older one a girl with brown hair, the younger one with blond hair. So, the girl got picked for the Divergent experiment, her mind was changed up and some of her features too. Also her memory taken away. She got married, had baby Tris Prior. Boom.
Now on to Newt. He later grew up, got chosen for the Maze Runner project. Now all the other immunes had been in the Divergent project. Newt wasn't, this explains why he wasn't immune. Something in the experiment before that changed them was a force that made them resistant. BOOM AGAIN GUYS. You're getting what I'm getting right? THE FEELS.
