"Mary, are you hurting?" Erabella asked two days after the incident, when she found Marion wrapped up in bed.
Medicine and healing magic in this world was a step and a half more effective than the modern world he was originally from, but that didn't mean it was as miraculously effective as the video games made it out to be. Only so much potion... or medicine... could be consumed at one time before its effects diminished. Same with healing magic, at a certain point the body just couldn't process any unnatural forced healing and had to just take care of it on its own.
So even if Marion's bones were all settled in the right places and attached, his body had to naturally take it's time to fill in the gaps. He did come away with a shattered left arm, the whole thing was useless after being blasted out a window. The ribs on his left side also took a beating and his right leg was broken and his whole right side was torn up from the glass.
His stomach wasn't bleeding as bad by the end of the fight thanks to Charybdis healing it, but his mom still nearly blew up the whole block when she discovered it.
For the most part, he was just sore now and covered with bandages and poultices to prevent bleeding if he reopened his wounds and to help numb the pain. He was on bedrest and basically grounded because of the hole in his stomach. Which also meant he only got to eat soups, which was probably the only good thing about it since he loved soup.
Prudence even had summoned a physician from the capitol to rush out and an archbishop from the capitol was going to come out and treat him. She ordered him not to die in the meantime and had spent the whole previous day with him. They bantered and genuinely didn't hate the obligatory experience but, in the end, what he needed most was rest and he was administered a sleeping potion to make sure he didn't have any nightmares.
"I'll be up in no time Bella, you should have seen the other guy." Marion winked.
"Really! Did you win, Mary?" He was met by the excited gleam of a sister or still admired and hero-worshiped her older brother.
"He beat the first guy into dust... Literally." Lieutenant Commander Miles Bennett walked in holding a bag of snacks. He was also wrapped up in bandages and his left arm was secured with a mechanical brace straight out of a Frankenstein movie. He still had a gauntlet with his wand attached but otherwise he was in a loose shirt and pants.
Without his uniform and headgear on he was boyishly handsome, and he was a lot younger than Marion expected someone of his rank.
His hair was a messy light brown, and he wore the easy smile of someone who didn't belong in a structured military. "Couldn't find anything left of the bloke after Captain Rion had his way with 'im" He said while chewing with his mouth open.
The Lieutenant saluted as if to acknowledge some sort of proprietary. Then he sauntered into the room and pulled up a chair. "By the Dogged gods kid, you are something, first a sword to the gut. Then you managed to thrash the cod sucker who did it. And then when that beh- witch blasted you out the window!" he smacked his leg to add to the effect. "I thought you were a goner, but then you came soaring in on the broomstick of an even scarier witch hail and health like a bad stray cat."
Miles shoved another handful of snacks in his mouth and chewed. "Rion you are made of something else I tell you what, I'm starting to come around this Corsair god nonsense."
"It isn't nonsense."
Novak and Irina walked in the door the lieutenant left open.
"SIR, MA'aM," the Lieutenant stood up and saluted, but it seemed he moved too fast since he doubled over in pain and dropped his snacks, spilling what appeared to be dried pickle chips all over the ground.
