It had been a few years now, but the feeling of being on stage still hadn't become something Rhysand, Azriel, or Cassian had become used to. It was surreal, looking out over a sold out stadium full of people screaming for them, singing the lyrics to their songs back at them.
There were a few faces along the barricade the boys recognized, fans who had gone to every show on the tour so far and had been to a ridiculous amount of shows on their previous tours. The thought of the money and time these people invested in following them around the country—around the world—was insane. They didn't think it would ever start to feel real.
"Alright," Rhys said with a grin when they wrapped up their final song on the setlist, "that'll be it from us for tonight! It was very nice spending the night with you all, I'm sure we'll be spending tomorrow night with some of you too." He punctuated that with a wink at the girls in the front row he recognized from previous shows.
Cassian stood up behind his drum set, shirtless with his hair hanging down to his broad shoulders. He pulled the carefully positioned microphone up so he could speak into it.
"Az is all grown up now, by the way, so you're allowed to flirt with him without our manager yelling at you now too," he announced, earning an eye roll from Azriel before he simply shook his head at the crowd, though there was amusement dancing in his hazel eyes. They hadn't toured in about two years now, busy with making a new album and taken on a whirlwind of TV appearances, and during that gap Azriel had two birthdays, leaving him at nineteen now. Cassian and Rhys had already been eighteen at their last tour, and they had all sorts of fun—none of which Azriel wanted any part in this tour. "Lame! If he doesn't want you flirting with him, just flirt with me double."
The crowd screamed and Cassian grinned brightly.
The three made their way off stage, waving their goodbyes to the crowd.
"Inviting anyone backstage tonight?" the venue security asked them on their way back, already aware of the boys' tendencies.
"Few of the girls already have backstage passes, just triple check their IDs please," Rhys replied as he handed off his bass to once person and Azriel handed his guitar to another.
"Tonight's gonna be so fucking fun," Cassian said as they wandered further backstage, making their way to the green room. "I'm so glad Amren isn't here babysitting us anymore." This was the first tour their manager hadn't come along to keep an eye on them since they were all eighteen now. They still had a tour manager, but he wasn't nearly as invested in keeping them in line as Amren was.
"Oh my god, she'd fucking kill us if she was here," Rhys replied with a laugh, "real good thing she's not because someone needs to finally get laid."
"I'm not a virgin," Azriel scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"We've never seen you fuck anyone," Cassian shot back, earning a bark of laughter from Azriel.
"Just because I have some class unlike the two of you and don't fuck a girl in the same room as you doesn't mean it hasn't happened," he replied dryly.
"Boring," Rhys chimes in again as they filed into the green room, leaving the door open behind themselves.
"I was trying to be nice," Azriel said, "I didn't want you two seeing my dick and feeling inadequate."
"Well, now you have to whip it out and get us something to measure with," Cassian demanded as he flopped down onto the leather couch, "you can't just say shit like that and not prove it."
"If you want to see it, you're gonna have to ask nicely," Azriel replied with a smirk, "maybe beg a little."
"Freak," Cassian choked out around his laughter.
