Chapter 4.2: A Person Who Have Nothing, Doesn't Lose Anything

A stranger asked me before,

"Is the society always equal? Is it possible to have absolute equality?"

Before you answer that question, you must learn the meaning of equality first.

What is equality?

If you ask the dictionary, it is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.

Equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents.

Thomas Jefferson once stated that all men are created equally, but he did not mean individual equality.

Base on Gini Index, ranging from 0 to 100, inequality fell from 70 in 1988 to 62 in 2013.

In short, global inequality has fallen during the last decades, but that doesn't mean there will be a total equality from now on.

George Lakey also said, there will never be a true equality because according to him, rank reflects values and unfortunately, it is a covert form of inequality.

What I mean is, considering all of this, for me, humanity won't and will never achieve total equality.

Equality has been made to fool the society in order to maintain peace.

It is just a facade to manipulate the majority for better.

In the end, the answer to his question will vary to a person.

Since we are all not equal, each of us had a different perspective in life.

Rich people loves to eat in a fancy restaurant while poor people is satisfied to have a dinner in McDonalds.

Ever since I was born, the world is already unfair to me.

My innocent mind was slowly being corrupted by the people around me.

That's why I firmly said to that person.

"Isn't obvious? Equality is a cloak to hide the cruelness in this world."

The stranger didn't expect my answer.

More like he tried to predict it but he was wrong.

He stared at me with his cold, calculating gaze that will make anyone shiver but I didn't flinched at all.

It is because I've received a lot more worse than that even before.

"I never expect the experiment to be successful." He uttered.

Obviously, I don't have any idea on what he was talking about.

I just stood up quietly there, waiting for his response.

After a second, he looked at me again and asked,

"Kid, do you think you can lead the majority to prosperity?"

"Uhhh..... I don't exactly know what you're talking about but I don't think so? I mean, it is not my obligation to do that so I guess I won't do it even if I'm capable to do so."
