24th December

Louis and Harry are both attending Hogwarts. The Yule Ball is turning up soon and none of them has anyone to go with. Harry wants to ask Louis but the boy doesn't even know Harry exists.

"The ball is approaching. Do you have someone to go with?" Colin asked Louis as they walked to their next lesson.
"I don't know. I am too shy to ask someone..." Louis bit his lip.
"Did someone ask you yet then? It's in a week!" Louis pressed his books closer to his chest.
"I know that Colin and no, nobody asked. If somebody did I would have said yes." Louis really didn't want to talk to Colin more right now.
He walked through the hallway right into  his potion class.
When they entered Snape was already there with the rest of the class.

"The lesson started three minutes ago." he gave them both a glare.
"We are sorry sir." they mumbled and looked down.
"5 points from Gryffindor. Go take your place and do what you are told to." Louis nodded.
"Of course sir." they both found a place and got somehow ready. Louis didn't want to lose more points.

After this lesson of potions they headed to flying lesson. Louis loved it but he didn't understand why they had to practise it for several years.
He walked alone since Colin went somewhere with Tom.
The boy walked with his books pressed tight to his chest, his big habit making him look even smaller.

There was a pair of eyes watching him but Louis didn't know about it. He just walked up the moving stairs. It was almost dinner time and he wanted to drop off his books. That person stopped under the stairs, just watching him leave.

Louis stopped in front of the entrance to the gryffindor dorm.
"Password?"
"Balderdash." the painting moved and he could walk in without any problem.
He ran up the stairs and walked to his bed. Louis put the books down and turned to leave. He was kinda hungry on that evening.

———
"I am telling you I am gonna ask her tonight!" Colin said as he took another bite of his food.
"If you say so." Louis shrugged and put an apple coated in caramel on his plate.
"Good evening boys." a ghost flew above their table.
"Good evening Nearly Headless Nick." they both said in unison.

Colin kept on bragging about his date for the ball and Louis just ate his caramel coated apple.
"You have somehring on your face." Colin said when Louis finished.
"Oh." the boy blushed and took out his wand.
"Better?" he asked when the caramel disappeared from his face.
Colin only nodded.
"Okay, I am going now. Wish me luck." Colin got up and walked to the Ravenclaw table. Louis watched his every step.
Colin stopped in front of some brunette girl and proceeded to talk to her. After few minutes he returned back with a smile.
"What did she say?" Louis asked.
"She is no longer without a partner." Colin took his seat again.
"How did you do that?" Louis frowned.
"It's simple. You just have to ask someone. You better act quick because soon everyone will be taken..." Louis sighed and took a piece of candy from the bowl to cheer himself up.

The time passed quickly and tomorrow was the Yule Ball. Colin couldn't stop bragging about Melinda, but Louis didn't want to hear about it anymore.
He still didn't have anyone to go with.

He was on the yard, sitting at the bench. He was revising for their lesson with Mrs. Mcgonagall.
Louis was alone for a bit until another girl from his house came around.
"Hi Louis, can I ask you something?" Louis' heart missed a beat.
"Y-yeah?"
"Would you please help me. I am going with Charlie to the Ball and I can't decide. Do you think he'd prefer me in red or light blue like Cinderella?" she asked excitedly.
"Well, I think red would look awesome on you." the girl smiled brightly at him.
"Thank you for your help. See you." she said before she left.
"You are welcome..." Louis smiled in response but sighed as soon as she was out of sight.
He decided he had enough of revising for today.
