It was late, almost 11 o'clock and we were still sitting in the waiting room, waiting for a doctor to tell us anything. The worst part was that none of us knew what state Goose was in and it was making me restless. I kept fidgeting with different stuff meanwhile Pete just sat still next to me, staring at the floor. None of us were crying anymore and I was glad that Pete had let me comfort him even if we didn't like each other. Maybe this would help our relationship.
I had called to Ice and Slider's phone a few times but it was only Slider who answered. He told me that Ice refused to talk to me, or anyone for that matter. I wanted nothing more than to drive over to their house and see him, I wanted to comfort him just like he did to me a few weeks ago. But right now I needed to be with Pete because I knew it would be worse if he received the news of Goose's state alone. Then suddenly a doctor came into the waiting room and his eyes scanned the room.
"Pete Mitchell?" he asked and the both of us shot up and walked over to him.
"How's Nick? Is he..." Pete didn't finish the sentence. The words just didn't come out and I understood why. I had to myself take a deep breath to prevent any tears from invading my eyes at the thought.
"When he came in he was in a critical state." The doctor began and I held my breath. "But we were able to stabilize him."
The relief washed over me and I put a hand over my mouth as happy tears filled my eyes. "Oh thank god! Thank you so much doctor!". Suddenly I was wrapped in a hug and I put my arms around Pete. We were both relieved and happy and we didn't care that we didn't like each other.
"He woke up a while ago and asked to see you." The doctor continued and we pulled away from the hug. The doctor told us to follow him to a room where we found Mother Goose. Pete rushed into the room and I decided to stay in the doorway, watching their reunion. Goose had a big bandage around his head but other than that he looked fine.
The doctor leaned against the other side of the doorway, "He has a major concussion, big gash on the back of his head and a broken collarbone."
I nodded but couldn't take my eyes off the best friends reuniting again and it warmed my heart. "Thank you." He nodded before he left.
"Helia!" Goose suddenly said and I looked over at him with a smile.
"Hey, Nick." I answered but I felt like an imposter because we weren't exactly friends. "I'll go call Carole and tell her that you're awake." He nodded with a smile and I disappeared to the phone further down in the waiting room. I had met Carole a few times and I liked her very much, it was nice to sometimes just be around a female. The phone rang and I waited for her to pick up.
"Hey?" she asked, her voice thick, probably from crying. I told her before that Goose had been in an accident and that I would call when I knew anything.
"Hi Carole, it's me Helia." I began with a smile.
"Helia. Any news on Nick?" She whispered.
"Yes. He's alright Carole!" I told her and a squeel left her and she sounded so relieved and happy. "He woke up a while ago and probably wants to see you."
"I'll come to the hospital at once. Thank you so much! Bye!" She rambled, all excited and I didn't even get a chance to say bye before she hung up. I was just happy that Goose was Ok and didn't widow his wife. I was about to leave, feeling tired and the adrenaline left me. But it hit me that I had another person to call. I put in the number once again and waited for him to answer on the other end.
"Hello?" Slider answered tiredly
"Hey, Slider. I'm sorry to call so late but we just received the news of Goose's state." I told him. "He's alright and awake."
