Chapter 1

Bree

Finally it's the last day of school, and my 18th birthday, I fully expect my parents to not even send me a message but that's fine I'm used to it by now. I stare at myself in the mirror I have always been an insecure person but today I refuse to be. Before I can start to nit pick my insecurities, I hear loud banging on my front door.

I rush down stairs to answer the door, and in comes my best friend Riley, "happy birthday" she screamed. "It's not a big deal". "Are you kidding this is the biggest day like ever , and your not even dressed for the occasion"she pouted as we walked out the door to her car.

It's a tradition in our school that every year all the seniors skip all their classes on the last day. So that's exactly what Riley , her boyfriend Tyler , and I are doing . I hate being the third wheel but I promised I would stay with them all day so that's what I'm doing .

I have never been a very good kid with my parents always out of the house I didn't have much discipline growing up . I have done about everything in the all the things should do as a teen book. But I have vowed to stop my bad behaviour for senior year so hanging out with Riley and Tyler all day is the best bet to not letting lose and breaking the promise to myself. But I have never been dumb so besides the endless detentions I have had over the years I have never failed a test.

It's last period and im so ready to get this day over with , I have gotten many happy birthdays from different friends . But me and Riley have always just hang out with each other so we never had a big friend group, I still have a lot of friends though. I have zoned out while Riley and Tyler are being all cuddly, I have never had a boyfriend or even hooked up with someone which is surprising for me but it is what it is .

While I'm staring off Into the endless miles of bush and oval the lockdown alarm starts going off, we all get startled. "What should we do" a worried Riley asks me . "They wouldn't do a drill on the last day we should probably find an empty classroom to hide in" Tyler suggests.

We start running towards school the bell is still ringing louder than usual this must be serious. We enter the school and I spot someone , a man , tall, dark hair , his neck and arms covered in tattoos. I freeze when I see the gun in his hand , once I come to my senses I go to start running but it's to late he spotted me . I start to sprint but, I feel a sharp sting my shoulder "what the hell did you do that for we weren't supposed to hurt anyone" is all I hear before I black out.
