"*intense eye contact*" -Unknown

You wake up; your dorm is empty, and you look at the clock beside your bed. You're running late. Shit. You're already late for your first class on the first day of school.

You get out of bed and throw on your robes, brushing your hair with your fingers as you hastily walk down the hallway to the dungeons. Before entering the classroom, you pop a piece of gum that you grabbed from your nightstand into your mouth.

You try to sneak past Professor Snape and find an empty seat in the back of the classroom. However, you don't go unnoticed.

"You're late y/l/n," Professor Snape deadpans, "Ten points from Gryffindor."

"Arsehole," you mumble under your breath.

"Take a seat next Mr. Riddle," Snape tells you and points toward a boy sitting in the back of the classroom.

"Mr. Riddle?" you wonder as you make your way over there, "Whatever, at least I get to sit in the back."

Your eyes land on the boy, and it's the guy with dreamy brown eyes. He grins at you and moves his stuff to his desk-side, so you have room.

"You didn't mention you're a Riddle," you say as you slump down next to him.

"Matteo Riddle, pleased to meet you," he says, winking at you. You sarcastically roll your eyes at his wink, but your insides are fluttering, and you try not to blush.

"I'm y/n y/l/n, but you can call me yours. It's nice to meet you," you sarcastically joke, mockingly winking back at him.

"I would love to," he responds, taking a strand of your hair and twirling it around his finger.

You playfully slap his hand away before pretending to focus your attention on Professor Snape, but you can see Matteo smiling at you from the corner of your eye.

The rest of the day flies by, and you only have two classes left before you know it. You walk into defense against the dark arts, chatting with a group of Gryffindors. Immediately, you see Matteo, Draco, and a gang of Slytherins talking in the corner.

When you walk in, Matteo glances up, winks when he sees you, then turns back to his friends.

"What the fuck, mate. What was that?" Draco asks, noticing your interaction with Matteo.

"Nothing dude," he says, but after Draco turns away, he looks back up at you and grins.

His smile warms you down to the bone, and you can't help but smile back, and then study the ground, so he can't see you blushing.

You can't seem to concentrate for the rest of the class, you keep glancing over at Matteo, and every time you do, he's always looking at you admiringly.

When class is released, you're not sure if you're sad to be leaving Matteo or relieved that you can finally concentrate on something else.

As you go down to Hagrid's hut for the care of magical creatures, you're already dreading it. The crisp air and chilly wind send chills down your back, and you clutch your robes tighter to your body.

Someone comes up behind you and shoves you; you stumble but catch yourself before falling down. You turn around to face the person that pushed you. It was Draco Malfoy. No surprise.

"Watch where you're going, mudblood," Draco spits at you.

"Shut it, blondie," you say before shoving him back.

"Bitch," he says about pushing you back, but you step out of the way, and he stumbles forward. Then, without thinking, you tackle him and tumble down the hill rolling over each other. You end up on top and quickly stand up to shake the twigs off of you. Draco hops up after you and brushes off his robes.

"My father will hear about it," he said, looking at you, pissed.

"Go cry to daddy," you smirk at him before running off to find Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Hagrid walks to the front of his hut, leading an abnormal creature. It has a horse's body, hind legs, and tail, but the front legs, wings, and head were of a giant eagle. Its large orange eyes stare down at you. Everyone in the class takes a step back.

"Hippogriffs," Hagrid exclaims, "Very friendly creatures, if you gain their trust. Now have we got any volunteers?"

You step back, along with everyone except Harry, who seems unaware of his surroundings.

"Harry!" Hagrid shouts, "I knew I could count on you. Well come on up then."

Hesitantly, Harry makes his way toward the Hippogriff and Hagrid.

"Now, you must bow first, maintain eye contact, and don't let him feel threatened by you." Hagrid informs him, and Harry nods in response before slowly bowing.

It didn't take long for Harry to gain the Hippogriff's trust, not that it was surprising; Harry's good at everything.

Out of the blue, you watch Hagrid lift Harry and place him on the Hippogriff, "Now you get to ride him, Harry." (Ik that in the books, Harry gets up on it)

Draco shoves people out of the way to get a better view and starting eating an apple, unimpressed. You roll your eyes at him, go over, pluck the apple out of his hand, and take a bite out of it, whipping the smirk off his face.

You watch in amazement as Harry and the hippogriff soar into the sky. You imagine the wind blowing in your face and the sight of the castle from above.

It doesn't take too long before Harry and the hippogriff return, and you quickly hurry over to Hagrid, hoping to have a go next. But, unfortunately, you're interrupted by a loud, cocky voice.

"That's so easy, it definitely is since Potter did it. You probably aren't dangerous at all," Draco says, walking over to the Hippogriff, "You big ugly brute."

Suddenly, there was a flash of steely claws, and before anyone could process what happened, Malfoy was on the ground screaming, blood slowly seeping through his robes. "I'm dying! I'm dying!" he screeches, "Look at me; it's killed me!"

You can't help but burst out laughing.
